Does this mean Benteke's value will fall between now and January?

It will rise over the next three matches. It is when he is on the pitch that his value falls.

Not too sure why Villa started putting up a fight, thought they knew their role which is to bow down then roll over when Spurs are in town

Why should have Mason gone? Just stood his ground until the slap!

Benteke deserves a 6 game ban IMO

Hengy

He was the first to push his face into Benteke so off he should have gone, then Benteke for not controlling himself although questionable.

With your six game ban he might as well have just flattened him

Na Mason was just walking forward with his head bowed a little bit and accidentally hit benteke!!

No need for that reaction

Talking about your favourite team again!!

Remember when we beat you with ten men recently

More like we donated 3 points to poor Spurs...Still, Spurs are miles below West Ham.

Mind the gap..

Lol, it was barely even handbags.

I suppose this will justify a few people`s jobs within the FA though.

Interesting. The laws don't actually mention raising hands. It does mention showing violent intent. There appears to be an assumption that raising a hand is always violent intent but it doesn't have to be. Probably neither should have been sent off, but the ref didn't see it and had only his 4th official's account to go on.

It started with Benteke giving Lamella an almighty shove, and escalated from there. So Benteke does take some blame for the whole thing. Had the officials reacted quicker it wouldn't have blown up. Now both clubs are being charged, which I think is harsh. Poor refereeing.

Bottom line is that Benteke needs to get control of his reactions. If he dishes it out he should take it as well, and just get on with the game. If he doesn't he'll be more liability than asset.

I think I must have been watching a different match than the FA officials. Mason butted his head in Benteke's face and Benteke pushed him away - so violence from Mason, none from Benteke (though he had shoved Mason with his bum beforehand, Mason had responded by running into Benteke).

What is the rule governing raising hands? Do hands have to be above shoulder height for an automatic red card? Benteke was shoved in the chest about 3 - 4 times after pushing Mason's head away and there was no card for any of those.

Earlier Vertonghen had gone studs up on a villa player, so had Soldado. Previously, Rose had taken Weimann out when he was in the air rising for a header.

Yet the sending off changed the game and gave Spurs 3 points.
