I think JB is better than Vettel though

I tend to agree with MUDD.
I have been very disappointed with Vettel this year. We all know he had a good car, and fair play to him, he managed to master the blown diffuser aerodynamics better than anyone. But since then he has been very average.
However I think it is still the end of JB's F1 career. I think his general demeanor and the way he spoke to his team last week after that pitting debacle speaks volumes. Either he will go to WEC next year or he will do charity work and arrange / compete in more Triathlon / Ironman contests.
I can also see him marrying Jessica and starting a family.
I personally wish him farewell and good luck in his future life, and he WILL be missed in F1.

OK! Let's all be honest. You have 3 million in your ass pocket and a car that may well the 2016 WDC. Do you employ Jenson Button or Lewis Hamilton ?????

fraid to say button"s qualifying flaw has always been his achilles heel , when teamed with hamilton he was very often as quick as lewis in the race and in the wet very often quicker but unfortunately his performances on saturday very often left button too much to do on sundays -

personally i think he still has alot to offer F1 if the right offer presented itself , whether or not another big team would tolerate his qualifying flaw is doubtful --

Qualifying flaw or not, unless he is in a top team he isn't going to get a car onto the front two or three rows again. So that argument doesn't hold up.
More to the point, could any of the smaller teams afford him? They are more likely to go for someone who can bring sponsorship to the team to help with the costs of running a team.

in my opinion GC his qual flaw is the reason no big team will want him -
-------- catch 22 situation , if he had been more impressive in qualifying thruout his career he would have had better results in the race and probably look a bit more attractive to a top team now for what is left of his career -

team principles havent just come down with the last shower and look at the wider picture at what is available and a driver with a flaw is always going to ring an alarm bell somewhere in there train of thought when employing drivers -

Surely though when the Mclaren was more competitive he often outqualified his team mate. Didn't you use to point out how he out qualified Hamilton in years gone by.

no in fairness i believe hamilton was often a bit quicker in qual than button , come the race there was very little between the pair -

button reminds me of martin brundle when he was racing , impressive in the race but never really possessed that single electric lap in qual to make his job easier of a sunday --

I'd say he's comfortably the best "Number 2" driver on the grid. Is seldom spectacular but always picks up the points & drives well. Able to cover for a more erratic team-mate and can lead when needed. Did a good job in his title winning season & has never been shown up by a team mate.
The problem is where would he go? Williams might be a good destination, but they'll be too loyal to Massa. Would be best if he stayed at McLaren, but they'd prefer to pretend Magnussen is up to scratch.

that is probably a decent assessment of button hobo , i personally think he is good enough to be a no 1 in any team if that team is prepared to live with his qualifying flaw ,
i have always felt the problem lies with his very fluid smooth style that is great in the race on many levels but has worked against him in qualifying ,
for button i feel grabbing a car by the scruff of the neck and wringing it to within an inch of its life is something that is alien to his technique which in effect is precisely what is needed on a saturday afternoon ,

As to where he will billet down next year should ron decide to give him his P45 , sadly to say his age is against him and there is no birth for him that he would probably want with all the top drives for next year just about closed to him -

historically he will be placed in the same category as the likes of damon hill which is a little sad as i feel he is worthy of higher recognition than that --

Damon Hill IMHO. Was one of the best F1 champions. He showed more balls over the Schumacher incident than any driver I'd ever seen.

Most likely not the greatest F1 driver but more dignity than I've ever seen.
A much better man than me, I'd have kicked Schumacher in the balls,

Brundle said it right in commentary. Next year theres gonna be drivers in F1 who couldnt hold a candle to jb. Pay drivers are a big problem.

Hope he gets a good drive

A 3rd car if it happens for Ferrari/Red Bull opens a door, or not?

posted on 9/11/14

It shows how criminally messed up F1 is when a driver of Jenson Button's calibre is at risk of being kicked out of the sport altogether but a driver of Pastor Maldonado's calibre can walk into any team he wants.

i was not talking about DH dignity or his integrity or the like irish ,
i just feel that button has been a better driver than hill but i have my doubts if the historians will view him as such --
