Nonetheless a bid on the table could work.

They let mate join man u, but to be fair I doubt they would let cech join you. Stranger things have happened though

They let mata join because it was £30M plus for a player cfc didnt want.

Mata was a slightly different story. Jose clearly didn't rate him. Whereas I think it's safe to assume he rates Cech extremely highly.

I'd be very very happy if it happened, but equally surprised if it did. Maybe we deliberately started the season so poorly so they'd not see us as a direct rival and sell us Cech? <strawclutchingsmiley>

You can but try, but personally I think Begovic would be a better option. I feel a bit sorry for Mig but he clearly struggles to command his penalty box. That quality is a must becuase bar Manquillo we do not have a dependable defender at the moment. I read that Lovren has made more individual mistakes than the entire Southampton defence this season. Appalling.

I think if Chelsea had to meet FFP and really wanted someone in January, which I doubt, then we would have a chance. I reckon that's why they accepted an offer for Mata but I'm sure Cech could get an offer from abroad. I'd have him in a heart beat and it wouldn't hurt to make an enquiry. You never know.

He would be perfect, but as already said, I would expect him to go abroad.

Agreed but Jose must have felt that Mata would hardly ever be a threat to Chelsea. To be fair he was right. Mata has been shi t since he signed. Reminds me of Carroll money wasted with no return.

what a fall from grace though, it's a real pity because because the guy really was a magician for us

To be pedantic we got £37.1 for Mata, the fee was too good to turn down given he was on the bench and we wanted to comply with FFP, plus United were weak and Mata’s value would only go down.

I don’t think you’ve got much of a chance with Cech given they’ll be no shortage of offers from top clubs all around Europe. Given his service to the club though I suspect if Cech had his heart set on a destination and the club in question came at least close to the best offers we wouldn’t stand in his way.
