Rio and Sol Campbell are the two best English Centrebacks in my lifetime, I'd have Terry 4th behind Tony Adams, they're all brilliant though
I'd have Rio as the best and sol in third with Terry sandwiched In between. see how he likes it the racist feck
I think Sol is a bit underrated as he was not part of the golden generation but he had the best of both Terry and Rios qualities.
For me Campbell is like Ronaldinho! At his peak was so good but his peak was not as long as Terry and Rio.
Neville, Campbell, Ferdinand, Ashley Cole should have been the best back 4 going.
Bad luck, disallowed goals, red cards and missed drug tests ruined it for them.
Ledley King would have been on the list if his knees weren't made out of putty.

and being a CANT
Heard so much about Ledley but did he ever put up 3 good performances in a row?
Might aswell include Jonathan Woodgate

Probably because he didn't manage three games In a row
Was King really as good as people make out?
King was putting in class performances without any training in the week
But against what sort of opposition! You could honestly say the same thing about Woodgate
King played how many CL games ?
King is held in higher regard because if his injuries, he wasn't as good as Campbell, Terry and Ferdinand even at his best
Was expecting Chelsea fans to argue Terry to be the best English defender ever! They make this claim on all their match threads but are quiet tonight.
Terry still stopping goals going in
For longevity you could definitely say Ferdinand and Terry.
I'd love to have seen how Kings career would have panned if he wasn't so injury probe.
I'm biased but Rio was the better of the two IMO. He could do everything Terry could and more.
I think Terry was/is a top player but the media fawn over him (from a footballing point of view) because they love the English-lionheart-battler-leader type centre half.
Rio and Sol Campbell could read the game better than Terry and could cope with a high line or a backs against the wall type game.
King was class IMO. I remember before the France game at Euro 2004, which King started, the pundits couldn't understand why he'd been picked ahead of Carragher, it was quite simple really......he was better player
Rio for me.
Ledley King shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Campbell, Adams, Rio and Terry.
I could just as well put Wes Brown up there with them and use the injury excuse.
King was obviously better than Brown
Same level and a class below the other four.
Brown was awesome when he was fit, even Fergie says he's the most naturally talented defender he had at United, but you wouldn't put him in this list because he didn't show it often enough because of fitness issues
Fergie said a lot of Shlt FFS
