No idea whether anyone else was interested in taking it or not but it doesn’t surprise me that its gone to a country that didn’t qualify (whether through failing to qualify or through being disqualified) as they have the most to gain by stepping in.

Maybe we should have tried, more chance of getting ACON than a WC!

I hear Equatorial Guinea actually started the Ebola outbreak following their disqualification, just on the off chance they may get to host the African Cup of Nations.

That was the point I was trying to make Tam.

Personally I think the competition should have been postponed this year due to the threat of Ebola, but I guess the guys at the top wanted it to go ahead come what may. It does give the host country an unfair entry into a competition they were banned from.

With very little time to organise the event, it may turn out to be a disaster, although they have hosted a tournament before.

Oil rich country and money speaks.

No, it was Ward. They were talking about this "special Ward" at an African field hospital on the news last week.

They shared hosting in 2012, so I guess the infrastructure is in place.

You may remember mark thatcher and a coup d'etat in 2004.

I do, difficult to blame him for the mistakes he's made in his life, with the parents he had he never had much of a chance.

Mali have finished third at the last two tournaments by the way.

It was an epic fail with the coup as well, quite comical if I remember.

Not that I paid any attention but apparently Obama doesn't have control over the house any more, the republicans have the majority and can pretty much veto anything he wants to do.

Politics eh, the two leading powers in the world and one has no control over the house and the other has a coalition nobody voted in

He never did have control cinci. The Republicans increased their majority in the House and gained back control of the Senate, which comes into effect in January.

Obama will now try and use his Executive power to push agendas through, starting tonight with Immigration.

Good for Obama. Wrong to split families. No place for racism in any modern country.

I can't believe immigrants to the USA can complain about immigration!
