The problem is we've failed to adequately replace those 30 goals that Suarez banged in last season by not bringing in a better striker than Balotelli. Sturridge's injury length has been absolutely ridiculous and no body expected an injury of this extent at the start of the season. Defensively we've always been shady under Rodgers and it's now getting exposed because we're not scoring goals at the other end either. I do have faith in Rodgers and he's got my backing till at least the end of the season regardless of what happens. People are quick to forget we spent 5 long years out of the Champions League when talking about qualification for it.
At start of the season br said we didnt need to replace thirty goals. He said he strengthened the team defensjvely and that we could get more points by tightening up defensively than having to scire 30 goals.
Problem is studge git injured. So goals have dried up. Yet defensively we are still frail despite br saying it is an area that has been addressed at start of the season.
Br has to improve that defence imo and of that hasnt happened by he end of the season then owners have to nake a decision what to do
Arsenal have been a top 4 side even without Sanchez
Man City won title with Yaya and Dzeko last year as Aguero was injured alot.
United have won a title when Rooney was on bench and RVP was firing them in.
we can't look at others. Bottom line is that our transfer business to replace the Suarez impact has been poor.
Exactly Goofy your spot on. Talking about "reducing the number of goals" hasn't worked. Yes mathematically it works out to simply concede less but we've been even worse defensively than last season which is shocking.
Gerrard dropped!
Br finally managing the skipper
our transfers have not been bad because of a lack of trying
its simply because we're not a good enough draw for top players
fact
sorry
However Liverpool have lost 80% of their goals from last season-Suarez and Sturridge.
Suarez didn't go for nowt, you got well compensated. Most teams will lose one of their best players at some point, recovering from the loss is what separates great managers from good. Utd won the prem after losing Ronaldo and Tévez in the same window.

we only lost 30% of our goals
then another 20% when Studge got injured
we coped fine without Suarez, but losing both killed us

Plus Aguero scored 28 goals last season and Rooney got 19. so not sure where you are getting that information from?

Suarez hasn't died you sold him,Rodgers has had plenty of cash to fill the hole.
cash is meaningless if the players don't want to join

True, but besides Sanchez did you actually go after top quality? Or do you think a thicker squad was more important to Rodgers?
there really wasn't much top quality to go for
We bid for Costa last year and he told us to fœk off
We bid for Sanchez and he told us to fœk off
Di Maria is miles out of our range financially
Cesc had Chelsea bidding
Welbeck was the only other forward who moved to a bigger club and United don't sell to us
part of the problem is there really wasn't anyone to bid for who didn't have better options
our midfield and defence should be stronger than last season, and on paper is.
the problem is losing both our regular goalscorers.
yes, we have lambert, borini, and balotelli, but none of them provide the pace of sturridge, or the workrate (and trickery) of suarez.
this has meant our whole build-up play has slown down, and our options to unlock teams are limited.
this has allowed teams to play a higher defensive line against us, and to push more players forward in attack.
this in turn has meant our midfield and defence are under more pressure, by more attackers, than last season, and that pressure is lasting for longer periods.
this is why our defence seems to be so much worse this season.
once we can start fielding a striker with more pace and movement we will start to push teams further back, easing the pressure on us, and giving us more attacking options and goal threats.
then we will start to see that our defence is actually better than last season.
I doubt they'll be any available in jan, but next summer our priority will have to be two top quality strikers, to ensure we don't have a season with this predicament again. price is pretty much irrelevant, we'll lose much more money long term not paying whatever it costs for them
In the past two seasons we've tried to buy Costa, Mkhitryan, Sanchez and Willian. All would have massively improved us but all felt they had better options.
yep, but as can be seen by looking at psg, Monaco, machakhala sp??, Chelsea pre CL, man city pre CL,
they will join if you overpay.
so far we have refused to overpay for players, we may have to accept that to get the quality of striker we so clearly need we may have to overpay for a while until we are once again established consistent champions league competitors.

No. They will join if they know you will overpay and continue to overpay, meaning you'll have chances of trophies and a lot of cash. Unfortunately for people like you, that can't happen, not that it would with us anyhow, due to FFP.
The players I mentioned preferred to stay or join other clubs, it wasn't a money issue.
exactly TOOR
overpaying for one will still fail
people need to know that you have a warchest that will overpay and keep on overpaying religiously
that's what Chelsea and City did, now United and Arsnenal have publicly vowed to do
