I'd say Jose mastered it, Fergie started it.

Jose got on well with Fergie because they both knew how each other worked.

Whatever Mourinho says after a poor game, its sole purpose is to deflect criticism/pressure away from his players and bring all the attention on to him.
------------------------------------
What about the garbage he says when you win? You really don't buy the stuff you guys repeat do you? Do you know why he was kicked out of Madrid? It was because he had a habit of lighting a fire after every press conference and him always looking to make headlines with his vitriol. The difference there and in England is the media don't like people who don't respect their rivals. Actually happened in Italy too.

Honestly, do you guys find a guy over 50 years old behaving like him acceptable?

I'm an Arsenal fan mate

In Spain they never fully fell it and instead carried on criticizing the players along with the manager. The limelight in Madrid is too big for one man to steal, even Mourinho.

Jose is our leader,we shall not be moved.

Amazed folk take football talk seriously, especially from ALL partisan managers.

It is a game,within a game,for goodness sake.

Lighten up.

Well, if you think having a dig at eyour captain at every press conference and belittling your players in public is trying to take the limelight from the team you are having a laugh. You might want to put a spin on things but the way he treats people that are not on his team is simply unacceptable. There is mindgames and lighthearted banter, and then there is immature stuff that you expect in a primary school classroom instead of a 50 year old man. Respect man, respect.

Tbh I don't really think he has ever grown out of being a boy. He is still a very immature guy, that's all I am saying.

O well

He deals with different situations...differently. His belittling of players in Madrid would probably have been necessary given those players are fan favourite Madrid boys who also think they should automatically be first choice.

Coming here, dropping Mata didn't require much as Chelsea fans we have trust in Mourinho, and do not think a player should be the focus over the team (although there was a section who thought Mata should be playing no matter what). So he dealt with that situation in the correct way. Had Mata been a RM fan favourite playing for RM with the vocal opinion that he should not be sitting on the bench, then he could have very well been belittled by Mourinho.

The only thing I found strange in his behaviour is the poking of the eye balls Think he went a bit too far there.

You're kidding me right? Belittling of players publicly is a no-no under any circumstances. You think he is the first manager to have a problem with entitled (even that is debatable) players? Have you ever heard a manager have a dig at a player in so many press conferences like he did towards Casillas? Even his teammates (Pepe and Ramos) thought he had gone too far and they also got insulted in the media! The only person who was on his side by the end was Arbeloa and signs are that he has no friends in that dressing room nowadays.

Well, we are actually going away from the topic in the article now.

What a wonderful man

Depends on your management style. Having a go at players may or may not work. Casillas was becoming frustrated at being left out, and tbh he was becoming crap. As much as Mourinho tried to silence him, as soon as he couldn't win the CL, or it looked like RM were going to win nothing, fans started focusing on his behaviour.

When he first came to Chelsea and Carvalho was making noises, Mourinho belittled him in imo one of the worst ways possible, by questioning his IQ . Not much was made of it by the media here, fans at Chelsea and Carvalho, he went on to become one of our greatest CB's ever. I don't think it's just mindless attacks on players, there would be a calculated decision behind it.

Whatever works for him. Must be doing something right judging by his trophy haul

Chelsea fans just lap up whatever Mourinho dishes out. The guy is just a sore loser who takes defeat badly. Period. Perhaps its part of what makes him good at his job. Chelsea fans are always falling over themselves trying to explain away his hypocrisy its ridiculous.

"as soon as he couldn't win the CL, or it looked like RM were going to win nothing, fans started focusing
on his behaviour."

That is absolutely no true! They were on his case even in the season he walked the league! It's just that as the 2nd season wore on, things just became incredibly untenable for him both in the media and in the dressing room! He lost the media in the first season after the classicos just became too meanspirited and he started to alienate Casillas he was the one who went ahead and tried to mend things with the Barca camp for the sake of the Spain WC team. He felt Casillas had betrayed him. It had nothing to do with his form. In fact, he was still a great keeper then. His poor form just gave him a chance to even the score and he made matters worse by attacking him in the media despite Iker never complaining publicly about being benched. Remember the time Ronaldo coming out and saying he was unhappy about a proffesional issue? What do you think that was about?
