Never liked the bloke much but fair play to him this season he's showing that no matter what age a defender is when put into the right system class shines through. Genuinely been a world class player over the years.

Chelsea legend,Wayne Bridge friend, never done it at a world cup unlike rio but,was seen getting a germany kit on after the final whistle at this years world cup. Great captain and never found wanting for his club though and hard to begrudge opinion of him being the best even if i disagree because his longevity at the top despite no pace shows what a great leader and student of the game he is and the muppet managers who tried to leave him out were proved wrong.

Not quite Rio's level though

That's because he is above it.

One of the best defenders about and criminally under rated by some because of his off the pitch antics but that's the English press for you, they tend to always be a bit glass half empty.
Best compliment I could give him is you could count the errors he's made on the pitch on one hand.

That one disgusting incident says everything you need to know about him. Might be a 1st rate player but he's a 3rd rate human being.

I'll quantify it for you, for a spell a few years back Rio was probably the best CB in Europe
