Just watched it there 1 min ago as I always record MNF for their analysis. Got to say I didn't really notice it on Saturday but watching through Carragher's analysis, Per's performance was disgraceful. Carragher nailed it on the head with the 'captain abandoning ship' comment. GNev aswell after was right about how our teammates pretty much abandon each other and never help each other out. Get these men on some sort of contract at Arsenal please.
He's been shambles this season. We need to replace him ASAP.

U guyz need mcnaat, shocking, rolo and valencia
With hindsight we should not have given Mertesacker that new deal.
Just find it disgraceful that our CAPTAIN is playing like this against Stoke away. No leadership at all, no desire, of course it's going to have it's effect on the rest of the team, just disheartening.
Sounds cliche and all but I really think we need a proper hard English CB at the back, someone with a bit of character. Even Reid will do (I know he's form New Zealand), at least he looks like he has a bit of character, plus he's a pretty damn good CB from what I've seen.
Has anyone seen this Tyrone Mings lad play?
Our defence is Shambolic and I personally think he's is a massive problem. U cant play the high like we do with someone that slow.
Id happily see us sell him in the summer and get is someone with real quality and leadership.
Ron Vlaar could probably do a job for us tbh
"Has anyone seen this Tyrone Mings lad play?"
===========================================
He could be the reincarnated spirit of Bobby Moore, the moment he turned out for Arsenal and received coaching from Arsene Wenger he'd turn into Igor Stepanovs or, putting the melodrama to one side for a second, Calum Chambers who's looked gradually worse the more ingrained within the Arsenal way he's become.
Carragher and Neville are far and away the best football pundits on tv. I record mnf just to hear their take on things.
Every single word they said in regards to us was correct. To be fair per has been atrocious all season, regularly getting outperformed by monreal when he was at centre back. Its like since he won the world cup and retired from international football, he simply cant be bothered with football anymore. Im sure he actually said something that effect already this season, about not having motivation to play after the world cup. We spend 99% of our time here talking about Wenger but we need to see more responsiblity taken by the players. How can a 30 year old German international with 100 caps and current world cup champion be absolved of blame. Im glad they brought him up because the players need to start really looking at themselves. What they said about us having no leaders is also true and something Wenger again takes the blame for. Surely however, if you have someone like Per in your defence, how can you anticipate that he will shirk responsibility so shockingly. There are many reasons for our bad season so far but the performance and attitudes of players is right up there with the most important reasons. These are grown men who have played football their entire lives, its ridiculous
The stuff about classless fans is spot on too exactly the thing I feared when I saw this video might go viral.
This is the same Mert who forged a the great partnership with Kos last season during our unbeaten run. They were fantastic.
Its easy to blame him, but after coming back from the world cup, he has played close to the highest minutes this season in the premier league, having to play with Kos/Chambers & Monreal at different points.
Before we jump on the bandwagon, lets see him alongside Koscielny and give them time to form a partnership again.
I wouldn't mind is signing Mings hes 6ft 3 lb/cb. Id wouldn't mind shipping Monreal and replacing him with this fella.

Bull mate he had an extra 2-3 weeks off after the wc. Hes got no excuse at all.
We made a ridiculous offer for Cahill which was expectedly rejected and went for Per Met instead. Just another of Wenger's long list of stupid decisions.

Per is not a poor player, its his attitude right now that stinks
Cahill and koscienly
Now that would have been deadly
Mert is OK just having a tough season with the defence constantly changing around him.
Struggles when we play a high line, always has, but aside from that he's usually pretty solid. Probably needs replacing in the summer, worth keeping him around though
Mings would be a decent signing in the same way chambers was a decent signing. Neither should be playing regularly and neither will get the protection a young defender needs. Both are good young flexible players. However as seen with chambers a good young player can have good games and bad games, and the more bad games they have the more it will affect them.
Mert however is suited to plauing with kos, And the same vice versa. I dont think we'd be in a mich better position had kos been fit playing with monreL than mert. I think with them its a case of the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Both counter each others weaknesses and maximises each others strengths. As shown by the clean sheets when played together.
Never rated him tbh, always thought Koscielny made him look good.
I cannot for the life of me work out what's up with Per. He just seems like so much of a worse player than he was for the previous couple of seasons. Normally you'd put that down to his age catching up with him, but it's not like he particularly relied on his physicality before anyway. His strengths always used to be the mental ones like positioning and anticipation, and those shouldn't really weaken over time, so I'm at a loss as to why he seems unable to do even the simplest of marking jobs these days.
I still dont understand how anyone can understand carragher when he talks. I dont speak scouse

Thought Carraghers analysis was spot on, and I'm happy the vast majority of Gooners actually agree with him. Mert has been shocking this season. You can sift through almost every goal we conceded and pick out Mert fúcking up in almost everyone of them. Even Monreal has been head and shoulders better than him.
Now i'm not sure what is wrong with Mert, but the hope is it's just temporary. We all know the passion he showed last year. That bóllocking he gave Ozil after the City away defeat and he was many fans favourite to be team captain. So it can't all suddenly go downhill. And it's not as though he's lost any pace, because he never had any.
So although I agree that Mert has been awful this season, I will hold on until he gets a run of games together with Koscielny, whom he looks infinitely better with. Personally I think we haven't a natural replacement for Koscielny, which gives us a problem when Chambers and Mert are the CB combination.
So first port of call in the January transfer window should be a CB replacement for Koscielny.
