I blame Chris Powell for his team selection. He is too negative with one up top, at home as well. just look what happened when we played Notts forest with two up front.
Powell is way too slow to change things, even after 30 mins I could see we needed to change it around. You could also see their goal coming. Even when they scored he did nothing for quite a while.
Just another point, with Holt going back to Wigan in around two weeks why not let OUR strikers have game time and leave Holt for later in the game.

Probably cos Vaughan would get himself injured. Just looked @ the league table. It doesn't look great.

It's like groundhog day...back down the table, playing lone striker and a team of idle sods.. haven't we pretty much said that for the past 3 seasons ?

It's uncanny, different managers, different players, but same result...maybe there's someone behind the scenes who's influencing team tactics ???

Wonder who that could be ?

Why would Dean do that? Surely a team challenging brings in more revenue, fan excitement, feel good factor? I'm with you though jacko, the last 3 years have been a massive let down. When I look back at promotion to the second tier in 1995, I was perhaps naively thinking how great it would be, yes we flirted and in the end succumbed to relegation in the end, but at least 2 of those years were fantastic! 1999-2000 brilliant Town team, never sell Marcus Stewart, first season back, we beat Norwich, Leicester at home in fantastic games. I have never been as disappointed as a Town fan than the last 3 years, same old same, win, lose, lose lose, draw, lose, lose, win. No passion.. NEVER EVER gone for it. Don't talk about money.... We appear to be rotten inside, Brentford, Bournemouth are breaths if fresh air! They remind me of Town in the late 1990's. Sort it out and fast.

Powell thought we started ok?? What planet is he on

powell is falling into the mold of all previous Town managers ...delusional. What on earth do they say to each other down there ? Seems no one has the bottle to say this is rubbish...fans leaving with 20 minutes to go, after being sat there in stunned silence for 70 minutes...surely that must give them a clue...??

Yesterday has to rank as one of the worst games I've ever seen. Team selection was poor, the players were poor and so was the atmosphere. There was nothing to lift the spirits or get excited about until the introduction of Vaughan and Wells.

I can't understand why we started with Holt, he's going back to Wigan in a few days so surely it would have made more sense to start with our own players and perhaps use Holt as a sub? And surely dropping Wells to the bench will knock his confidence further.

To my mind we need to play with pace and urgency and actually set out to go for the win. I don't mind losing half as much if we have had a real go.

Improvement is needed against Rotherham.

Holt looks tired and tbh let wigan have him back. .hes looked so slow the last couple of home games

We have to play high tempo not walking speed and play wells n vaughan together from the start

Holt has obviously lost interest in us....he was okay at the start and rejuvinated us...bet he can't wait get away now..

posted on 21/12/14

I think holt probably lost interest when told he was definitely going back to Wigan. No point trying to play for a contract after that.

I dont think its lack of desire with holt..more his age..i just dont think he has the legs at his age to give his all week after week

He,s been the main man since he came and probably just needs a rest

Saturdays highlight....the fantastic meat and potato pie and pint of Timothy Taylor at Canalside before the game.

What happened after that was just rubbish! We didn't play with any purpose or passion and no real belief. In form players are so because when they get a chance they make it count. We had plenty of chances but didn't do well with any of then. Vaughan's header six yards out that went halfway to the corner flag just proved that. He is such a liability though, getting booked 5 mins in just shows he isn't right in the head.

Rotherham thread up on Christmas Eve.

I hope the Rotherham game doesn't end up as a repeat fo last years trip to Donny...big away following..new stadium...struggling team....and we fluffed it.

O'Regan had a right go at Vaughan, said he needs to get his head sorted out after he got that booking...(his 5th this season ?) He needs to get a body sorted out too, I think we've seen the best of him tbh, time to ship out...?

Jacko.. If we screw boxing day up, then be prepared for an all time low festive attendance on the 28th.

I've been saying Vaughan has rocks for brains for some time now. He obviously doesn't think. Lunges in, gets booked, lunges in, gets injured! Time to offload him to some unsuspecting numpties.

I feel like sh it today. Think I've got jackos germs over the radio

The thing about that booking was there was no need. He hadn't been on long enough for it to be a personal bit of payback. It wasn't in a critical situation where you "take one for the team" as it were. To give such an easy booking away is pure stupidity in the modern age. He is reckless though as his last time he played he lunged in after not long on the pitch and got injured and booked!!!!

Its a big test for Powell now as morale is low and any fan enthusiasm built up has eroded and our expectations are rock bottom. Its times like this where you see whether someone is a coach or a manager.

Lee Clark clearly isn't a manager as you have to look how Birmingham have picked up without him and how Blackpool have got worse if anything under his leadership.
