12 months too late. Morgan's stats last 12 months are worse than cooks..

Morgan has a good average as captain for what that's worth. I wouldn't totally rule out him getting left out of the team at a later stage!

Nasser Hussain's reaction:

"Alastair should be proud of the way he has fought to regain his form. He's not a quitter - he has not quit English cricket - he has fought hard. This is one of the greatest batsmen we have ever produced, up there with the Tendulkars of this world, and we want to see Alastair Cook back playing for England in a Test shirt in the Caribbean in April."

Really, Is he "up there"? There was a time we thought he might be getting there in test cricket. He has not been doing well in any format although he is still young and hopefully can prove me wrong.

Now we just need Cook to be removed as Test Captain and then maybe he can go back to being a quality batsman. Great shame how the captaincy ruined him

Not a surprise to me that Cook has been dropped from ODI cricket & removed as ODI Captain.

Cook is NOT an ODI player, never has been & never will be. He has had his few moments of success in ODI Cricket

Cook should focus long term on his Test Cricket because that is his natural game & that where has had large parts of success from.

I believe now that Cook has been relieved from the ODI cricket - it will not burden him anymore.
He is still a class Test batsman (albeit a bit of help from that Ravi Jadeja dropped catch)

If India have shown a fraction more fight in the final 3 test matches in England - Cook would have been out of international cricket but he capitulation of India in those 3 test matches has eternalized Cook International Test future.

fraction more fight? India were demolished in the last 3 tests. at one stage in one test match they were 25 for 6. or there abouts.

Anyway it was the right call for Cook to be kicked out.. You cant have a poor leader also not scoring runs.
we may see better form from Morgan now. But that is just a maybe. he aint that good himself.

England have picked the best bunch they could. Looks (on paper) a strong squad compared to many other teams.. Although, why they don't pick Rashid is beyond me

My thoughts on morgan is form is temporary. He's a class act at odi level. Would have thought they would line up like this:
Ali
hales
ballance
root
morgan
bopara
butler
woakes
broad
finn
anderson.

I think it's been a bit unfar how Cook has been treated. 2 months before the World Cup and they decide to make a decision like this. It's going to unsettle the team and put a lot of pressure on Morgan. Should have waited until the after the World Cup.

I would have liked Jim Allenby in our T20 and one day teams. He has been consistently good batting and bowling over the past two/three seasons and has been qualified to play for england for a while now.Matthew Maynard rates him enough to bring him into the Somerset squad.Excellent strike rate with bat and ball and gets runs and wickets.

I am regularly watching 20-20 matches in Australia. Tell you what, Morgan is awful in batting ...so far.
