Bringing on Lambert and Borini ruined the whole style of play.

If only Sterling and Coutinho could shoot

Pedro would be a hell of a signing for us.

yeah i dont see what borini offers, the guy definatley is NOT a goalscorer.

If sturridge was fit, we'd be laughing in my opinion.

Markovic and Coutinho were both excellent, you couldn't ask more from them really.

Lallana showed some nice touches, should have done better in some positions though, good corner (at last, so many poor ones from Gerrard) for the equaliser.

Hendo did well given he is playing out of position but obviously doesn't look natural there. Sterling was well shackled today, but made unselfish runs which is why we saw so much of the other attacking players, which is what you want from a false 9.

Absolutley, ive said this to people around me countless times. He's rapid, intelligent, good touch, a good goalscorer and he is tenacious with his pressing. His build up play and final ball are superb

You guys are aware we were missing

Kiscienly
Ozil
Arteta
Wilshere
Ramsey
Rosicky

Kind of puts Sturridge absence into perspective

We have it sorted in creativity with the Op's mentioned players, but we need to sign a goalscorer and preferably two in the transfer window.

No it doesn't.

Your team was dreadful today but Giroud even though he's a lump can score goals.

Pedro would be great, and let's be honest, he n't be getting much game time at Barca these days.

I think the players we've got will be very good players. It's just whether Rodgers is still in a job by that point at the moment.

Also, we need to sort out the backline. We've not solved the problem we had in Carra's last season where he came in and bailed us out. Kolo is doing the same thing this year. Despite spending 40+ million on defenders, we can't sort it out.

I thought Coutinho had a good game. He losses the ball 50% of the time but at least he is trying something different to open defences up. Hendo looks to rigid on the wing. Always looks to come inside. Markovic looked good. Needs a lot of work though.

I would of loved to see Moreno in that left sided role. I think he would of loved the space going forward.

I've been very critical for the last few weeks, but that was a really encouraging performance.

Markovic, Coutinho and Sakho were excellent.

Lallana was OK, he needs to release it quicker at times. Sterling was shackled, but still looked quite threatening.

Skrtel scored, but he also cost us the 1st goal. 2nd goal was just rubbish from the whole defence.

Although its unlikely to happen, I'd like to see Henderson in the middle replacing Gerrard/Lucas, with Sterling to RWB and Sturridge up front when he returns. Think that would work well against the 'smaller' teams.

Do we really need an attacking midfielder?

Ideally we need a striker who can play up top on his own. Some names that come to mind would be Bony, Benteke, J Martinez. Would be delighted with any of these.

Even if we had Balo I think we would have comfortably won today though.

Oh i forgot about Lallana. He was excellent. I really think he could be a massive player for us. I think he will thrive on confidence.

Markovic looks a real talent. Raw and unpolished but has an instant touch, good interplay and a confident pacey dribbler.

We're missing Sturridge and Balo. United are missing their whole defence. You just have to deal with it.

Great result today lads, was rooting for you

We played really well today, and those mentioned in the title, certainly all played their part.
As for whats needed, well an attacking midfielder is certainly not required.
We need an out and out striker, simple as that really.
Obviously it becomes a lot less simple trying to buy a decent one in January.

Good result for you guys today and great build up but you just need to be more clinical in front of goal both with and without Sturbridge

When we had both Sturridge and Balotelli we were clinical, we put three past you.

I think we need a couple of 26-30 yr olds at the top end of the pitch who are calm in front of goal. A striker and a midfielder.

Our finishing is diabolical, and while Sturridge will improve that as a natural scorer, he is not going to solve it completely on his own.

Exactly. We have too many young players. We need more experience up there.
