Exactly at the half way point we are in a great place.
We do have the easier away fixtures, which do give us the opportunity to stay in the race.
For both sides it will be about being consistent in the second half.
Its at this point of the season we can count our lucky stars that we have Jose running the show.
The only down side is that we do have four London derbies away to come.
Haven't you guys already played away to City, United, Liverpool, Stoke, Southampton, Newcastle and Everton too?
Must have a well easy run of away games now?
Ifarka only one that worries me is West Ham.
Spurs and Arsenal a point won't be the end of the world and Mou has got a 100% record vs Arry.
Chris, we have been inconsistent as hell on the road for years, I can't recall a consistent run off away wins since the record run under Scolari.
What you have said is entirely correct OP and Im over the moon with our position. At the beginning of the season I would of taken it.
However, the problem for me is chucking away winning positions. I'm not actually too fussed about the newcastle defeat, no matic, a pumped up and inconsistent newcastle team and just was not our day. And not too fussed with yesterday despite dominating the whole match, we just didnt get the fall of the ball.
But the City and Utd games are inexcusable. Utd were in a rut and should never of got a point from that game, and City were at a numerical disadvantage and we let milner and lampard cut us apart.
Also A lot is made of us playing teams at home, but it will still be tough, city are more than capable of beating us at home.
A long way to go, hope we keep improving and over the moon with fabregas and costa and hazard and matic too.
Nick, between Carlos second season and Rafas time we were average and United were on top yet we always showed up at The Bridge against them and got a result, apart from Clattenburg gate ofcourse.
We shouldn't underestimate the power of a one off big game, especially when the home team are underdogs and have nothing to lose.
Our Game against City at the end of next month will be huge.
It wont decide the title but will give a winning team a real boost for the run in and the forthcoming CL games.
Still think if we beat PSG an City lose to Barca it will give them an advantage in the run in (obviously if those results are the other way round it would be advantage to us)

The Half Way Trophy

Now your gunna believe ussssssssssssssss ........
............
I look at it in terms of points. I think we should be aiming for the 88 point mark at a minimum this season. This should be enough for us to win the PL. If City win it even after we accumulate that many points - fair play to them!
We are well on our way in achieving that - having got all the tough away fixtures out the way - I can easily see us get 14 wins 4 draws and 1 loss in this next half of the season. I don't know if Reus and Khedira are available in January, but it will certainly help adding a couple of new faces in positions we have a slight weakness in.
Just keep aiming for that points mark - historically most of the big players will not be able to keep up.
khedira would be such a good signing. KDB how are you mate? after you kind of embarrased yourself yesterday?
Hope we can carry on the way we started the season but we missed out on a few very good oppurtunities
Nick are you still crying about it - don't worry, I'm sure some take you seriously.
huh? crying about what? I dont understand that?I was not even in the conversation with you really?
and this is a football forum, people shouldnt really be taken seriously mate, maybe thats where you go wrong. I just know usually Im spot on whether as yesterday, superb and brummie and the boys embarrased you. But were all fans of the same club so dont watch it.
"I just know usually Im spot on"
I was also "embarrassed" regarding my thoughts on Torres when everyone was quite far up his ar.se on here. Embarrassed regarding Sturridge, KDB, Ramires (to a small extent) and Mata. I can't help it if I can see things a lot earlier than others mate - like you said this is a forum, I can just lay my thoughts out on what I think will happen and the the thought process I think the club is taking - and then you can witness the club do what I said
Ive got praise on here before for being correct in regards to match outcomes and situations but all this thoughts on torres nonsense nobody remembers.
How was you right on torres may I ask?
How was you right on sturridge? most people I know thought we should of kept him and were saying we should play him up front at the time?
What did you know about KDB? after the only what 5 starts he made for us?
And what off ramires and mata? I'd like to know because Nobody remembers.
P.S even if you have the same thought process as the club it does not mean they are correct. For example, If we had either sturridge or mata last year I believe we would of won the league. the club let both of them go.

---------------------
I agree, although I think they were correct on Mata's part, I think they were wrong with Sturridge. A lot of my thoughts are based on the reasoning I think the coaches/managers are taking, be it right or wrong.
Torres - At a moment when most was clinging on to him coming good, I saw the limitations in his game to never suit our style of play, along with his depleting finishing ability and confidence. I believe a Chelsea fan (I think NPE) even banned me because of my constant irritation towards Torres as a player on here.
Sturridge - This was during the time when many were in love with Torres - I just pointed out that Sturridge should be starting up front, he has paid his dues, and Torres has failed miserably up to that point in the season. This was met with many empty statements on Sturridge's poor attitude, and that Torres has done well running around like a dog for the team. When Sturrdge did finally get a chance up front (roughly 33 minutes against WBA) because he didn't score a hat-trick people started to complain about this - I backed Sturridge, and then according to your logic I got "embarrassed" as many were still in favour of Torres starting up top. He then went to Liverpool, and I said he will easily score 20 goals a season if fit and starting up front - which he proved last season, and I think will continue to prove as long as he is fit. This got me "embarrassed" as well.
KDB - As you can tell by my name I got taken over by the KDB hype mid-season into his loan, and changed my name. However I was lucky enough to watch the final 7 games of Werder Bremen's. The guy barely did anything (I think 1 assist and a pen goal in the last game), and was slow and lazy imo to be fit into Mourinho's team (by this time I had been very vocal for a year in my conviction that Mourinho will be back at Chelsea the following season). He came back, people got over excited in his performances against crap teams or unfit teams in pre-season, I said he will be gone unless he changes his attitude - he went.
Mata - Another player - although a better attitude than KDB's there were huge limitations to his game which will mean he would be unable to fit into Mourinho's style. Said he will most likely be gone by the start of the next season, maybe even in January, he went January.
You can go back into my comments history and try and dig things out if you're bothered- I certainly am not. But I chuckle every time when people think the mass agreeing on something vs the individual or the few means that the individual or the few individuals that have a differing thought is/are wrong.
Regarding Remy I'm following the same thing I do, and in this case I think Mourinho is right, maybe wrong with Mikel, but I think he is right with Remy, and I'll wager that he will continue being a bit part player for us the rest of the season (unless big injuries to Costa and/or Drogba) and will most likely be sold next summer if not January.
