I agree with all you said. We have no goal threats from the midfield. No one seem interested in shooting from outside the box. Also, our full back offer limited attacking threats as well.

The one issue i have with this " one of the better match analysis's is that it fails to mention the effect of the southampton game plan had on our ability to play.

Yesterday we were not able to get a grip on the game, but it was three games in seven days, something which didn't occur to the OP one of the better match analysis's.

Not strictly true on the fullback part, yes Luis' crosses were wayward but the runs he was making often stretched Southampton.
Which is just as important as the crosses, If not more.
Ivanovic does this on the other side too, but to lesser degree.
Getting amongst the final third taking opposition players out of position can and will cause mayhem.

Eden Hazard frequently looks towards the fullback to make a run, so he can use them as a decoy when he inevitably cuts in.

Its all Torres fault. If he hadn't agreed to leave AC we would have beaten Southampton easily.

We do not shoot from the penalty area.Hazard shot at goal and scored thats my point!We should have beaten Southampton as we dominated them in the second half.I am not saying that we have a god given right to win every game but fortunately Burnley played well against City and Chelsea are still 3 points ahead!

I am not playing fantasy football.We have a small amount of English players and we need them more at Chelsea!

CR we certainly are very light on experienced home grown players.
Terry,Cahill and Cesc are the only 3 over 21.
That can be addressed by using players that come through the academy like Christensen,Lewis-Baker and Ake but Jose is still not trusting them enough.
If we aren't to be left with a very small squad the only 2 ways to address it are buy players that class as home grown or play our own.
