A good team performance tonight with Coutinho, Lallana, and Can all standing out for me. No one had a bad game but these three were brilliant tonight.
I have seen a few other comments about no Gerrard and he may slow us down, I know I am quick to have a go a Stevie but the lads tonight were superb and don't think anyone should be dropped for New Year's Day.
Gerrard will be back for tge leic game i bet, you will all see his quality again; dont dismiss him boys.
I still think Sterling half expects Suarez or Studge to be there and hesitates when he has a chance to score, id love to see him take on a few more attempts at goal. He could take to it, he scored some screamers as a youngster in the u-18's
Its definitely the formation.
Pace and movement up front, plus a deeper back 3 equals more space for our creative players, natural width from the wing backs to stretch the play that way too.
Basically we have emptied the middle of the pitch of the opposition, so we can run into that space a lot easier.
Its far from perfect and against better sides we give them a lot of space to play in too, but its making the best of the players we have available.
Just a shame it took nearly half a season of dross to sort it out.
gerrard will be back GB, both henderson and lucas played the full 90, could see gerrard and allen vs leic, then lucas and hendo back for sunderland..
its all about rotation now, we ran out of steam last year, hopefully squad depth will become more telling as the season unfolds.

just a perfect storm or needing a new formation due to losing stude and suarez, influx of players needing to settle and low confidence

With studge back and hopefully a new striker to we can go diamond..433 etc; we have pace and movement across the front 3 just like last season.

Balo was a gamble we all knew that, didnt work move on.
I'd be more worried if Rodgers didn't learn from his mistakes.
That's what managers learn from, ok, a bit later than we would have liked but we things are looking up now.

Apart from hes played him as a lone striker when hes not one and has actually looked okay when played in a 2 with pacey player

Agreed best team in a while
I think rodgers is proving that he has adaptability, over all I think he done extremely well. 2nd last season and now hes integrated several new players and lost 50 goals from his team, yet hes realised he has to change the formation.
Imo hes doing very well and i fully expect us to have a great 2nd half of the season.
He did persevere with Balo for too long.. but at least he has adapted and shown that he is resourceful and can work with what he's got.

Balo? In the 92nd minute, he was in the penalty box, and Swansea just regained possession. running flat out, a-la-Luis to win the ball back? Dream on. He just didn't make the effort.
Can, brilliant. Hendo, 100% better than he was against Burnley; he couldn't play worse. Lallana? MOTM. Absolutely no surprises there for me. close second? Coutinho. His positioning was excellent, what committment. great game, great win for the team.
