Hard to day. I thought Coleman was good under Moyes as well.
Martinez is a difficult one to judge. I think he took over Everton when they were on an upward curve of philosophy, to borrow a phrase from Rodgers, and built on what Moyes had left.
I do remember Everton doing really crap after they finished fourth under Moyes. And I wouldn't have called him a one season wonder.
So he has time to re-establish Everton as a consistent top 6-8 side, which is about their level.
Yeah, Coleman's got a great game in him. Under someone like LVG to Rodgers who likes to play either wingbacks or CBs split wide with attacking FBs he could be great.
Martinez on the other hand, averages about 1.2 points per game in the premier league. So given his 70 odd last year skewing the numbers slightly, everton are about where they should expect to be with him
Yep and we need a right back or wing back that can cross well because Rafael's crossing isn't amazing, plus he's always injured, and Valencia is shocking.

I think he raised expectation levels quite high last season. Everton shouldn't really be competing for top four year in year out. But this season has been very poor.

It's hard to say what Everton, as club, are able to do in the market when it comes to rebuilding the defence.
Moyes obviously had an influence when it came to spotting a defender, but I wonder whether their scouting department still have similar nous.
Time will tell, I guess. Or they sack him.

The signs are all not good with Martinez, whereas with Moyes you always knew he'd turn it around but with Martinez I'm struggling to see any light at the end of the tunnel. Hes very deluded and has no plan b. I don't think Moyes ever lost 3 in a row to weaker/similar teams,or at least not for many many years. moyes had his faults but so do all managers and it's looking now like moyes was the best we could of had
I see. I guess it's hard to compare Moyes and Martinez when things aren't going well because they're completely different managers and you've had years of experience with Moyes to know he's a safety net even when things aren't going well.
Martinez only has last season when things are going well and his time at Wigan, so it's not comparable.
Guess it depends what the vision for the club is. You could appoint Pulis if you wanted that similar thing that Moyes gave you.
I did get the impression that many fans became a bit disillusioned with Moyes' approach and Pulis is cut from a similar cloth so I'm not sure how well that will go down.
His time at Wigan doesn't fill me with confidence. Hes had 5 wins so far this season in the league in 19 games. That's not good enough for everton. Maybe the Everton of the 90's but not this Everton side. Some people think it's jumping on the bandwagon of a few defeats but this is the whole season. Apart from Europe it's been a failure. And kenwrights no mug. He'll see it the same and he won't be happy with what he's seeing at the moment

He hired Martinez on his FA Cup win and a promise to get us into the Champions League (Kenwrights own words), he totally overlooked/deliberately ignored Martinez Wigan League stats. Bought Lukaku for £28 million from a Chelsea side that didn't play him and didn't want him and only paid £11 million for him. Roberto really does need to wake up but unfortunately as with Wigan he will not.

The point I'm making is that the signs aren't good at the moment and you must agree with that. We look like a team who have been found out and are in decline. Can you honestly say that next season we will be going for champions league football with an older Barry, Jagielka, Baines, osman, hibbert, etoo, Howard, pienaar? Do you think we have money to fill the void left from the influence these players had on matches particularly last season?
