we won't be buying a left back, so just gotta get behind gibbs.
Leighton...
Think a utility player who can cover LB, CB and DM would be more likely (Jagielka/Vertonghen etc)
As for getting Baines for £10 million
If Everton sell it would be with a view to improve their own squad. £10m won't be enough to do that.
Baines would be £18m +
Everton won't sell Baines for anything less than 20m so no chance of that happening.
Ok, maybe 12m plus Armand Traore.
The thing we should do with Everton is get them to take Bendtner. He is the sort of striker they probably need. So offer him (maybe on loan as wages will be an issue) and £10 milli (enough to get a couple of decent squad players). Possibly even try to entice them into taking Henri Lansbury or Armand Traore on loan as well...
a 10m bid for their LB will be sound business.
=====
Baines, the best performing LB for the last two seasons for £10M, can I have what you are having please
With Enrique going for an inflated fee what do you think Everton would want for an English 'star' player then?
I think if we went to Everton with a £25-30m bid for Jageilka and Baines they might struggle to turn it down.
I forgot about the Dane....
8m plus the big Dane and a loan deal that involves Traore.
I think this will be an offer they cant refuse.

Enrique was a 6m buy for Liverpool, so 12m for Baines plus Traore will be a sound business.
agree with johnjenson with evertons financial trouble. around 35 million debt? put 25-30 million on their table for jagielka and baines I doubt they could refuse even though they would want to as that would be less than they want/ are worth
I am sorry but your idea that Everton would be desperate to sell Baines is daft.
Jagielka I could see being interested in a possible move, however I think Cahill will be the better option as he fits the Arsenal mould.
Howeever if they are willing to pay £15M for Jags then I think it could be a deal
Personally I'd quite happily raid Everton for Jageilka, Baines, Fellaini and Arteta. But even with their reported financial trouble I doubt they'd be daft enough to sell us the lot.
Everton won't take Bendtner they can't afford his wages.

What does he make at Arsenal at the moment? sure if it was the proposed loan then his wages would be part covered by Arsenal

Would assume so, if we really wanted whatever player we go for.
As I said before, Everton will only sell if they improve their squad on the back of it. Talks of a mass signing from them is something that won't happen. I cannot see them selling more than 1 first team player, and that player will cost over the odds, as Moyes would prefer to gamble on the squad he has now rather than let someone go and only have enough money to just bring 1 player in.
"£52K a week apparently."
Is that based on his 52 squad number? That rumour wasn't really true was it?
From what I've heard, the trouble for Moyes would be that he couldn't be sure that any money recieved from player sales wouldn't be sucked up by the bank to service their debt.
I have to say that I do feel sorry for Everton. Yes, they may have lived beyond their means, but I think Moyes has done a brilliant job with limited resourses and it'll be a shame if they were to slip away because he now saw his team being pulled apart.
Still, as we know there is little time for sentiment in the modern game.
no we wouldn't send him on loan, we would sell him but no point sending him on loan now
you'd have to pay 25m just to get Baines...anything else is silly talk!
you'd have to pay 25m just to get Baines

That is a ridiculous price, he would be 20m max.
£25m for Baines?
Let's move on then, as there are many among us that would doubt Wenger stomaching spending that kind of money on Eden Hazard.

No-one wants him. Same with Denilson, we will have to send him on loan and hope he makes himself an attractive purchase for someone.
"you'd have to pay 25m just to get Baines...anything else is silly talk!"
The silly thing is this is true! I reckon though that Bendtner, Traoré and £10M would be enough.
JJG I don't know with Nic's ego it wouldn't surprise me if that rumour was true. I'd be surprised if we was on any less than £50K a week though.
