I think it'll be good for the club when he does leave. I think we play better without him in the side.
Would prefer if we just managed his game time
I think some fans will see what we're missing when he goes. Chelsea fans could tell you about it now, they're feeling it with Lampard.

He's clearly not happy to end his career as a bit part player otherwise he'd be staying. Have to respect his decision.
Fans said the same thing before Carragher and Reina left, that we will be fine without them, but we have still yet replaced them. Gerrard will be the same story.
The team already likes leaders, and Henderson is in no way fit shape to captain this team. Gerrard showed last year, that he is still a quality footballer, and still has the ability and the leadership skills to perform in this side.
This news is morale depleting to the side, and the fans aswell. We're not losing a quality player, captain and leader...but one of the best players to ever wear our shirt.
Can't believe this news. He's been my biggest hero in a Liverpool shirt. The day Sami left was pretty sad; the day Carra left was even worse. I think Stevie leaving might break me. But it's for the best.
Last season was Stevie's chance to take the Premier League title, and it ended on a very bitter note.
To me it doesn't matter though because he's carried the Liverpool team longer than any player I can remember and it's take a toll on him. And the trophies won with him involved are an excellent return.
One of the best ever at Anfield.

Hendo isn't yet consistent enough to focus on leading the time. Trouble is, our only two consistent players are Sterling and Sturridge, and obviously neither of those will be captain. Tough decision ahead for Brendan.
Best player ever at Anfield and has my full support for going and getting a bumper payday in the US but I'm a little distraught at the thought of my hero for the last 15 years leaving!
Also he will absolutely destroy the MLS!!!

It will be great for Henderson. His best performances are when Gerrard isn't playing. With Gerrard going, Henderson will be able to shine more without having to take a lesser role under Gerrard.

The bumper pay day is a bit overstated. Top earner in MLS is on about 60 to 70k per week
Yeah but there is the potential for endorsements aplenty.
Of course the lifestyle is certainly something to consider too.
yeah, dont know about henrys initial mls contract, but the one he was on when he retired is less than hes getting from sky
anyway onto gerrard, will be very sad to see him leave, but have to imagine there are still some chapters left in his story with liverpool
Beckham certainly enjoyed himself out there. Doesn't he have a franchise of his own now out there?
I think that, after single handedly carrying Liverpool for SO long, he's tired. He must look around him at the moment and realise Liverpool are miles off winning anything major and he's just going to run himself into the ground before Liverpool is great again. Plus, there's the money, the weather, the... USofAness of it all. His kids will get a tan, Mrs can shop til she droops and he'll be a massive fish in a small bowl. If Liverpool were still contenders, or could be soon, he'd probably stay but we're so far behind the leaders, there's no point anymore.
He certainly has been let down by the club in the players he has played with.
Only three others were on his level in all the years he was at the club - Torres, Alonso and latterly Suarez.
You're right, Redinthehead. When you add up the Kuyts, Lucas', Arbelola's, etc, etc, etc, he's played with over the years, it's amazing that he has stayed so long. To me, that shows his love for the club, but now, with the likes of Sakho, Toure, etc, etc, etc, he knows you're never ever going to win anything significant with players of this quality.

Agreed and while in the past he's had the physical ability to make up for those player's shortcomings that is just a bridge too far now. It must break his heart to see proven donkeys such as Lambert and Borini coming on as game changers, having seen our previous foray into similar having spent £35m on one from the north east. Almost comical (or criminal) if you look back.
On a positive note, Gerrard's departure will allow others to develop, in particular Henderson who I think has huge potential as a future leader.

Beckham earnt £250m in his time at LA Galaxy.
Not sure what else can be considered a bumper payday?!
