Sunderland 2-0 Leeds

Neil to be sacked hopefully. We could nick a draw but given that Neil will probably play the kids and the diamond begs to differ. My team would be (532)

Silvestri
Berardi
Del Fabro
Cooper
Bellusci
Taylor
Austin
Sloth
Murphy
Antenucci/Sharp
Montenegro

I would not be playing the young fringe players in this match.

Ordinarily I would advocate it, but things are so precarious right now, I would play the more experienced players, I would look for Norris, Tongue, Morison to be taking up game time. I would also like to see Stuart Taylor play.

Could be looking at a hugely painful score with Shaun's line up and that won't do anyone any favours, especially the fringe players that we might need to call upon later in the season.

I do agree with resting Cook and Mowatt.

Can we go Live please Admins

My personal view is that we have more important games to worry about, I want Leeds to beat Sunderland but I'm more interested in seeing a good performance from the lads, something to show they've put 2014 behind them

Did I say Redfearn will pick my team? Besides my team (for this game only) couldn't do any worse than Niel's

Losing wouldn't be a bad thing, will allow us to concentrate on staying in this division and playing catch up with teams like Brentford.

I don't see how losing to a Prem club could
demoralize any player? I'd think the squad
would be relishing the match. And, I'd steer
clear of playing Norris, Morison, Sharp, Hunt,
or any other wage-sucker. Let the young lads
play. Go in with the mentality that the lads
can go in and play freely. It's the FA Cup.
Enjoy it.

batty, on one hand people say don't throw players into championship battle as losing could scar them, now people are saying how can it hurt them?

It's morale of the team, which is at a low. If the team goes and loses 6-0 for example, how does that help the team's morale right now?

Much better to try and limit that, use the players on our books, rest the ones we feel might have a future.

Just my view on this cup game, as I say, normally I'd give the realistic fringe players a go, but avoiding relegation is a priority, don't see value of playing them just to let them get overrun.

Jonty, for me, the FA Cup is a roll of the dice
tournament. Giant killing abounds. And we drew
a Prem team. We're the underdog with nowt to
lose.

You're right, the club's morale is low.

The team has stayed the same for weeks and
I could argue a limited number of players got
us where we are. If we keep the same team for
Sunderland (which I think NR will) and we win,
great morale boost. Will help us in the league.
Possibly. If that same team gets hammered,
it will add to the malaise for sure.

On the other hand, if we pick a team loaded with
fringe players and they win (unlikely), that might
put a fire under the incumbents collective rears.
Which will be good for our league form. If the fringe
team gets hammered, no one will bat an eye.
In addition, the incumbents are rested and don't
have the feeling of just being drubbed.

Either way has it's positives and negatives.

I'd rather see what we have in the squad. NR
doesn't seem to like any of them. For me, it's
time for us fans to find out if Hock/Darko/NR are
all correct that our squad sucks.

I have a feeling they don't. And that our three
coaches were/are stumped for how to change
things up. As in the theory that MC picks
crap/clueless coaches might well be true.

IMO.

Put a team out with "realistic fringe players" and if they get beat it shouldn't detract from the 1st teams morale................on the other hand it gives these "realistic fringe players" a chance to impress and maybe move up the pecking order

Batty............Redders has said he Will be resting players

Redfearn could give the opportunity to a number of his fringe players to stake a claim for a place in the side.

Stuart Taylor could replace Marco Silvestri in goal having played in the League Cup earlier in the season and Dario Del Fabro and Brian Montenegro are pushing for first starts for the club since joining last summer.

High, he'll probably sit Adryan again and call that
a "shake-up". I'll believe it when I see it.

I'd play:
Silvestri.
Berardi at RB with Byram at RM/RW.
C. Taylor at LB. Play Montenegro at LM/LW.
Cooper And Del Fabro at CBs.
I like Jonty & Others idea of playing Bellusci in
Def CM in front of CBs. Why not try it?
Attacking CM Sloth.
Play Antenucci up front.
Let Adryan go wherever he pleases.

Load up bench with other fringe players/
young guns.

Might get beat 18-0. But, why not?

Batty I think morale is low and a big factor in our form right now.

A hammering won't help us regardless of who was in side.

Throwing in players who've been nowhere near this level and who aren't match fit and have hardly played any first team matches for months won't help us avoid a hammering.

As I've said, normally would advocate youth plsyers getting s chance but impact in team for relegation battle might be too much and staying up is imperative.

2 ways of looking at it Jonty............
The cup game win or lose could impact on the teams relegation battle, if you play our regular starting 11, sorry Jonty, but I believe this is the ideal time to give some players a break.

For me, finding out about the squad (as a fan)
is more important right now. Saying that, maybe
Salerno and MC already know and agree with Hock/Darko/NR's assessment that our squad
is crap? Hence the upcoming loan moves?
