Much better than sitting on Arsenal bench and watching some inferior players playing instead of him.
Feel sorry for him - easily the best finisher at the club. Yet another clueless clanger from Wenger!
West Ham and Hull will be happy. The majority of the other teams he played well against are now in the Championship (Wigan, Fulham, Norwich, Reading)
13 of his 19 league goals were against these 6 teams.
8 of his 14 assists were also against this group of teams.
Against West Ham he scored 4 and had 5 direct assists.
Shame he didn't get a farewell run out against them last week.
Those 4 goals and 5 assists against West Ham came in just 4 appearances, btw. Unsurprisingly Pods won every game he played v the Bubble Blowers.
Bet he wishes he could play them every week.
He will be missed if not replaced. Knowing our record we are bound to have an injury crisis in podolski's area and end up having Szcz playing left wing.
2 starts, 1 in a dead rubber and 1 in the C-OC, does not need replacing. We have more than enough cover, especially as Walcott is back, Ozil is close, and Gnabry returns to action on Monday.
Wow DJ you do know a lot about players and their stats
Well we all know he did well v West Ham, used transfermarkt for back up and noticed his stats against these other teams, Dave.
Wenger is such a clueless mug

I'm happy to see the back of Podolski. Massive wages with very little input.
That being said both Ozil and Gnabry are far worse at LWF than he is. I'm not saying Pod is particularly good but Ozil is awful there and always will be. Gnaby is just a kid who may or may not make it.
I'd happily see Pod leave if it frees up funds and space for a new CB, DM or CF. What I fear is we'll see plenty of Cazorla, Ozil and Gnabry at LWF and no strengthening elsewhere.
It's a good move to get rid, just like it was passing up Fabregas but only if we address our obvious weaknesses.... history suggests we won't and we'll live to regret it again.
Really feel sorry for dude.
Considering he was used as a wide forward / winger and hardly got any game time his stats are very impressive.
Considering we have zero natural goal scorers at the club, Wenger really facked this one up with podolski
Ozil isn't a winger, walcott plays on the right and probably and won't hit top form for a while, Gnabry is also mainly right sided, he's inexperienced and has been injured for ages. I'm not saying podolski is a great player, just that we don't have many like him and he's a useful player to have in situations. Plus he has plenty of experience.
I just think he could have been useful for the remainder of the season. Then he can leave. We get lots of injuries and we need a big squad, getting rid of a useful player isn't the wisest choice if replacements aren't brought in.
Wenger actually prefers an Ozil out wide to Podolski which is crazy.
Over the last couple of years, the only time we remotely played fast efficient football was when we had a front 3 of - Podolski - Giroud - Walcott
He was probably our most natural left sided players in the squad (even though he preferred more central) now we're just left with a load of square pegs again.
But I'm guessing this means welbeck will be more likely to be used on the left
The point being, obviously, that even without a fair few attacking midfielders because of injury Podolski wasn't getting any starts bar the two shadow sides.
Walcott, Ozil nor Gnabry have to play left side, but the likes of Ox and Caz who have been filling in their positions can.
With even more options there is even less chance of him playing, so would be stupid to keep him.
We definitely need to get in new players. Walcott is far from ready and from his show so far, won't do much for the rest of the season. Ozil was already poor before his injury, he will only get worse. At least Pod gave us options, not his fault that he wasn't being fielded. He was decent when he played, and was definitely better than Ozil.
Podolski didn't give us options. He wasn't used, so wasn't an option.

Things is most fans could see that Podolski gave us something that others don't.
However, once Wenger has made his mind up on a players, it's over

Well it was, as he obviously didn't impress the one person who decides who is and isn't an option.
Podolski wasn't an option, highlighted by his lack of starts.
He is a better option than most
I will rather have middle range work rate and deadly finishing Podolski to Ozi who is neither, gnabry who is neither and welbeck who is just a workhorse

Deadly finisher ... If it is against West Ham maybe... What happened to his deadly finishing against City, United and Chelsea?? He had enough starts against them, yet absolutely no impact.
Podolski scored in 15 league games for us. 12 of them were thrashings of struggling clubs.
A decent man to have when the team is rolling over the likes of Norwich, Fulham, Reading and of course West Ham, absolutely pathetic in tight games against the teams around the top end of the table.

Oh dear, what a load of claptrap. Ozil has fared much worse than that. You are one of very few fans who don't see Pod's quality.
How is it claptrap. Cold truth is what it is.
But if it makes you feel better about yourself, keep lying about Podolski's Arsenal career and make a legend of a myth.
