Harrys: if he was a teacher would you have him back at your local school
----------------------------------------------
Different circumstances apply here, working with kids or vulnerable people he wouldn't get past crb checks, different for sportsmen
----------------------------------------------------------------------
why different?
Im trying to look at him as an ordinary real life person, which leaves out all the footballer as role model/ no role model argument that always muddies the waters.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
different as in he couldn't go back to that job by law, whereas he could go back to football
Palmers wishes he could copy and paste like me.

Commiserations.
I can't think of many good reasons for going to a god forsaken hole like Burnley on a cold night in January, especially to watch what sounded like a load of dross.

Not wound up, getting ready for bed too. All i've done is explain that popular opinion is the reason he's not playing.
You don't seem to get it. Night.

she was really nice grandspurs, I kind of felt odd because we knew each other.
But if the roles had been reversed, it could easily have been classed as rape
palmers got raped
Phil, you must be outraged.
wow good discussion and some good points raised.
Firstly comparing him to others who got a "better" deal after committing a crime is pointless and its not a case of double standards.
Just because we (the people) got it wrong before does not mean that we should keep getting it wrong. Times have changed fortunately so referring to the past and comparing is pointless.
When I first started going to football and utd visited half the crowd would sing munich songs, if they done that today would you claim that x,y and z got away with it in the past so it should still be ok?
a professional driver who is convicted of drunk driving and kills somebody will go to prison and lose his license, if its an HGV license he will lose it for life. So on his release from prison having served his sentence he will not be able to go back to his previous job as if nothing had happened.
The rewards for being a pro footballer are fantastic and the price of that fame is that the moral rules are different to other professions.
Evans knew that and is now paying the price for his own stupidity. Even if his appeal is successful he is still a class A idiot for putting himself in that situation and there is a cost for being an idiot which he knew before he did it. Clubs have staff that actually warn stars about these things and the problems it can cause so he has no excuses.
Most jobs you give something for your pay cheque where professional sportsman are paid purely to entertain.
I personally would refuse point blank to pay to be entertained by Ched Evans which is my right.
Was I a sponsor I would refuse to sponsor a club that had the likes of Ched Evans on their staff which is also my right.
This is why he cant get a club. He is allowed by law to sign for who he likes and has no restrictions legally to stop him resuming his career (unlike a professional driver which I highlighted earlier).
I would not even be happy (if I knew) if my milkman was convicted of this crime and would probably cancel him and make other arrangements.
So to complete my opinion I will just say that if a club gave Evans a contract I would never pay a penny to watch him and if that club was on tv I would refuse to watch him at all even if they were playing Spurs.
I am not saying he should not be allowed to continue his career but as a lot of people think like me then WE would do our best to make sure it was impossible for him to continue or for a club to employ him.
He had every right to go to a hotel that night (not the crime mind) and I have every right to make sure that he never earns a penny from any gate receipt or merchandising from my hard earned wage packet.
Thats why he cant get a contract and IMO I hope he never does
