Very unlucky not to win the Champions League last season and although I've got a soft spot for Barca, Atleti deserved to win la liga last season. Simeone is the master at extracting the maximum effort and application from his players but that's not to detract from their quality.
Off the top of my head their record vs Barca and Real since the start of last season is something like 3 defeats in about 16 games. Gives hope to underdogs everywhere that the top dogs can be toppled.
He didn't get the best out of Cerci, and as of yet Griezmann.

Not sure if it's exacly £100m, but it's around that. Think it was over 100m Euros. They spent a lot of money. But given their competition and need to replace players it's still impressive that they're competing again this season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They did spend a fair amount although it was offset by sales....
Griezmann - approx £23m
Oblak - approx £12m
Jimenez - £7m
Mandzukic £18m (bargain IMO)
Cerci - £13m
Siqueira - £7m

He'll probably replace Mourinho at Chelsea.

Yeah maybe Darren

£100m? On who? As far as I'm aware, they've been a selling club for years, with a wage bill which would be mid-table level by Premiership standards.
Yeah they did. Think it was about £30m net or something like that.
They signed Correra and Moya as well.
When you actually look at it I don't think their summer business was that good, so far especially.
Torres can't be fixed. Everyone has came up with a new reason to fix Torres: Benitez reunion, Mourinho, another country (Milan), and now the reunion at Atlético. I think Torres has been finished for a long time and I don't think anyone can fix him.
He's not even broken. He's smashed into tiny little pieces. No fixing that.
Simeone deserves every single piece of credit Atleti are getting
He's making a lot of ordinary players compete with the world's best time and time again

No their summer transfer business wasn't great. Griezmann and Moya have done well, the CB they've bought has been alright as have Gamez, Siqueira and Ansaldi (loan) ......However Raul Jimenez and Cerci have been flops and Oblak has been on bench duty despite costing 4 times as much as Moya.

Giminez the CB? Apparently he's been excellent

I don't rate Siqueira, Ansaldi looks better, think they really miss Luis.
Griezmann hasn't done that well. He's been playing better recently but he was hardly getting a look in earlier in the season and wasn't playing well when he did.
I can imagine Atlectico beating us 6 nil on aggregate with 6 shots on target. They're so well drilled and effecient. An absolute machine.
Torres however is still cack. He made 9 passes in the game, lost the ball 5 times, was caught offside and number of times and gave away a fair few freekicks. Looks a mess

Trying to get Sameone to stick aren't you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It will.
Raul Nolan.

Raul Nolan Great comparison.
That mario Suarez played, that player we are linked with. How did he get on? We could certainly do with more players who have expreineced beating a big team!
Cerci has been a massive flop. Greizmann hasn't been value for money. Mandzukic has been ok but not really prolific.
You gotta give him credit though, his teams may be ugly to watch but they are effective as hell. They are almost impenetrable defensively and are a massive threat from set pieces. Wouldn't be surprised if 75%+ of their goals this season were from set pieces. There isn't a team on the planet you would want to go a goal down to more than Atletico.
Has the Klopp bandwagon moved to Simeone now?
Don't know about others but I am always in favor of having Simeone at my club than Klopp. Simeone has done it with very little known players whilst Klopp had some quality players at his disposal and when they have left, he is struggling. Plus La-Liga is way tougher than Bundesliga, my personal opinion. It's difficult to win the title when Barca Real are around compared to Germany where only Munich is the real force.

Not sure the set piece %, but they've scored over 50% of their league goals this season from headers.
gotta give kudos to simeone and atleti
without 3 of their main players from last season, they still keep producing the goods
