Astonishing that anyone could refer to a rape support group as a “bitter old bunch”

What about the Society for Black Lawyers? Yes, they have good intentions...
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Tbf, I thought that when I read Stuart Pearce's comment, but they are hardly comparable.

tbf I thought that, after I pressed 'Send'

Two things:

1) Surely he has been out the game so long that he is a bit sheit now?

2) What did he actually apologise for?

1) Maybe

2) Basically for the outcome of sleeping with that woman. He still maintains his innocence, but accepts it's been hard for her too. He apologised to everyone, really.

No, three separate high court judges did in detail, in London, and decided he had no right to appeal.

===================

Is his appeal not going ahead then? If there is no appeal, why are the rape group complaining about it being rushed through?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its not an appeal as such, the case is being referred to the office that investigates miscarriages of justice.

Fair enough.

Clearly it does look like it's an issue of apology that was made due to being rejected by Oldham.

He should have done this from the start. Can't believe he wouldn't have been advised to do this earlier.

I'm no lawyer, but that sounds like an appeal to me.

The CCRC, The Criminal Cases Review Commission, were not expected to revue the details of another Appeal application till 2017, but have said they will fast track it through, some time in the next 35 weeks, but gave no reason as to why.
This is probably why 'women against rape' have an issue with this decision.

(not having a go here Spurtle as I feel the same)

Its funny that we are all so cynical, everyone wants him to give an apology, then when he does no-one believes it was genuine.

so true

"If he just apologies, everyone would feel different"

*apologises publicly*

"well, not like that"

=======================

But why should they care? If there is evidence to prove he didnt - they should welcome it. If the evidence still shows him to be guilty - then they should be pleased at that too.

They just want to control the situation.

Women Against Rape Group should mind their own business and leave it to the courts to decide when and if his appeal is heard.

==================================
The revue isn't necessarily being brought forward due to new evidence as to the innocence of Ched Evans.
If there was new strong evidence to his innocence, a time frame of possibly 35 weeks would never have been mentioned, and he would be looking at a direct appeal imminently.
The CCRC reserve the right to fast track cases, without giving full exposure of the details as to why.

Edin, it's only because of the timing of it. I mean did he have to come up with this straight after the 3rd or 4th(?) club back out on signing him?

It sounds more disingenuous than it would had he said this right from the off or several weeks earlier

His legal team might have told him not to in case it prejudices his case.

Somethings we can only guess at, lets face it no one on this site has all the facts

He needs to get a new legal team then if that was their advice.
