wenger won't sign a dm. he's looking for a defender and with debuchy and gibbs out this is a priority.

coquelin has played well since drafted in but I doubt he will replace arteta (captn) when he returns. also, us gooners tend to see a player have 2 good games and he's the next vieira/henry/bergkamp etc.
coquelin is a squad player at best until he proves himself over a season
dm is no longer a priority (wilshere/ramsey/flamini all to come back

The guy must have attitude problems, cos he clearly has talent. Remember him deputizing at fullback for us for a pretty big stretch and he did a really good job. Must be one of those Anelkaesque sulks. Or like M'Vila who went from Europe's most hyped young CM to a forgotten man.

He's still young enough to make an impact and improve if his attitude and desire is spot on.

Yeah he won't get a DM. Wouldn't have even if coq hadn't been brought back. Only chance is if he got a CB who can also play DM or other way around. Unlikely to get a specialist DM. Depending how bad debuchy injury is, he could get 2 defenders.

No chance of a mf player

You would expect him to get a cb but you just never know with Wenger as he screwed us in the summer

Coq always impressed me at Arsenal but he didn't progress when he went on loan, happy to see him getting a chance as i thought his Arsenal career was over. He's the only proper DM we have and can run and put tackles in unliked Arteta.

Apparently Arteta, Coquelin, Flamini and Diaby are out of contract this season. I would keep Coquelin and maybe Arteta (1 year) as back ups to a new signing.

He could get Kim Kallstrom or Amaury Bischoff again

One of the key things of an effective DM is how many chances the opposition get. Since hes been playing their chances seem to have gone down, except maybe Southampton but I don't recall them having too many chances, just Szcz making the ones they got count.

Saints only started creating chances once they went 2 up due to szez. Hes been good better than Flamini.

Knowing our luck he will be class til the end of the season and then fak off for free.

Arteta is poor at DM, particularly the way we set up with the rest of the midfield bombing forward and defence having to sit deep in order not to expose Mert.

Arteta's obviously a far better player than Coq who is fairly ordinary but doesn't remotely suit our team unless we're againt anything but the weakest opposition.

We obviously need a new DM but just as important is getting replacement/upgrades on Mert & Giroud.
Lowe figured out that Mertesackers lack of pace is a massive liability against the better teams and relegated him to cheerleader/waterboy.
Considering our style of play, it's Harikari having 2 of the slowest players in history - Mert & Giroud - at both ends of the pitch.

the coq had a very good game yesterday and seems to be getting better. sometimes you don't always need a star of sorts or a great technical player to be a very good DM. I remember Gilberto, who was nothing spectacular as a player but did a very good job in midfield and complimented it.

We have improved with Coq in the middle instead of Flamini or Arteta. But he very limited and what it reflects more is how poor Arteta and Flamini have been. The same will happen with Ospina and anyone who replaces Mertesacker.
