Ramsey, Alexis, Chamberlain, Wilshere, Koscielny, Giroud and Flamini.

Giroud?
Flamini?!

what the-??

Giroud spent all of Sunday fighting with Ryan Shawcross. He's a fighter, even when he's ineffective.

Flamini is nothing but fight. That's his problem.

Some have said we arent PL contenders because we dont have the fight in the team anymore.its said that you need at least 7 players willing to fight to make a winning team.look at the invincibles.

Why are Preston North End being discussed here?

Koscielny, Sanchez, Ramsey, and Coquelin if he gets chances in the first team. I don't think other players are cut out to fight for the team in a very physical away game.

Players would fight in the tunnel...

Szczesny
Debuchy
Flamini
Wilshere
Giroud

We have 5.

Chelsea are still on course for their undefeated season

As for the '7' - this is the Tuesday Club theory, right? - I'd say Wilshere, Alexis, Flamini and maybe Koscielny. Perhaps Gibbs?

Szcz is too cocky. Not a trait usually associated with someone you'd rely on if things get physical.

Flamini goes missing and makes up for it by going overboard. Giroud has fight but I guess perhaps he just isn't a game-changer.

I'd add Gibbs to the list and Rosicky...

Koscielny, Debuchy, Wilshere, Sanchez are the only fighters in the 1st team with real quality. Flamini is all smoke and mirrors. Plenty of visual fight but nothing in terms of real effort.

However said Giroud must be on the WUM. I've never seen such a thick bottler like Giroud. Lost his patience with Shawcross and decided to slap him like a spoilt girl. A proper fighter (like Bergkamp) would have subtly annoyed him all match.

Actuallythinking about I'm not sure Flamini would get too involved eitherif it came to it. He'd more likely stand nearby shouting and pointing...

Wilshere: "erm... a hand here, fellas?"

Flamini: "'it zem, 'it zem 'ard in zee face, Jacque"

Wilshere: "yeah, there's quite a lot of them. Not sure I'll be able to take all of them on me own to be honest..."

Flamini [pointing]: "but if you position yourself 'ere and zen cover 'im aswell, not forgetting you'll need to be over zere too..."

Wilshere [now on ground bleeding]: "thanks, Matty. You've been a great help."

Flamini: "anytime, mon ami"

I think that is ballacks. You don't need 7 fighters, you need 15 or 16 very good players.

posted on 13/1/15

... and good tactics of course.

how very British, the theory that you need "fighters" in the team.

what you need is good players, disciplined to do their job well and help others do there job when needed.

you dont need 7 Vinny Jones' kicking people in the air and getting sent off.

the fighter is like the get in their faces nonsense... very old fashioned. in my view.

What a team DOES need, is a solid spine. Absolutely not team ever has been successful without a backbone running through the side. It's one of very very few constants amongst the best teams of any era.

Arsenal's last real spine of any substance was 10 years ago. That + the mentality that second place is failure and the all for the cause attitude sees teams win titles. Add in a few special talents and thats the formula for a team thats amongst the best in the world.

You do need fighters in the team though. And by fighters i mean the good old Wengers Mental Strength fighters. Real single minded personalities. Players who won't roll over after a bit of physical contest. They're not the overly physical type themselves. It's just they realise the need to roll their sleeves up and put in a tough shift.

The Invincibles were packed with them. City and Chelsea's 1st team core is full of them.

No one mentions the OX, he is built like a brick shít house as the moment and does take the game sometimes by the scruff of the neck.....I reckon he would batter Shawcross in a one off fight to the death.......

It's the most baffling thing about "modern" Wenger. He knows what it takes to win titles. His best teams have always had a strong core of players. Physically and mentally fit players.

Why he suddenly reverted to the midget tika taka philosophy, i still haven't a clue.

Who are City's fighters again?
Zaba, Kompany and ?????

Don't say Yaya, the guy may be big, but he is a "when the going gets tough I get to strolling around" type of guy.
