Why the negativity......

the only negativity is the slowness of this site lately LOL.

we stand a chance to win this game IMO if we get the tactics right. you spot on, we don't need to chase the game and go gung ho and we definitely do not want to sit deep and soak up the pressure. we need our midfield players to play as a solid unit between themselves, the DM to stay fairly deep to protect the defence when need be, and then use our pace on the counter but don't commit the midfield keep it organised.

It will come down to tactics and this is where I pray Wenger is on the money.

That is the problem though, he is rarely "on the money" in this type of match. Plus I don't think we have the variety of players to compete well in such matches, there is next to no power in the middle of the park and the defence is also lightweight. I can see Coquelin being overwhelmed in the middle and we'll struggle to keep them at bay. It probably won't be a repeat of last seasons wide open, Fifa style contest but I still see us being comfortably beaten.

I'm just hoping City have a bad day and we can nick a draw.
Sorry but I have no confidence at all in these matches, our record is embarrassing for a so called "top team". All the thumpings we've been handed recently and inability to close things out even when we're in favourable position,, getting destroyed on the counter, conceding from set pieces and generally cheap goals etc. are the reason.

we are currently 3.5 to 1 to win the game, maybe worth a punt.

Fernando, Fernandinho and Silva in central midfield should not present too great power. We can compete well in this area. I feel.

Why the negativity?

We have a horrendous record against the top sides in the PL for the last 6 years. The only thing we can hope for is that City get complacent and we take advantage of it, just like Burnley did.

Because we have a manager who goes into these type of games with no game planning.

We play the same way without even factoring in the opposition strengths.

It's another away game to a big team so I don't expect anything from the game.

I really hope I am wrong

The negativity is as has been said to do with the history. It may not happen today, but the thrashings away last season is going to lead to negativity. If they were all one goal losses, it may have been different.

It's hard to be possitive because our record Is horrendous, and we never seem to learn after each thrashing. We go into each game the same way, and end up losing in the same way. I believe the players are certainly capable of winning these games. But we go into them with bad tactics and a poor attitude everytime. It's very rare where that doesn't happen.

I hope each time we will be different and get it right, because it's horrible losing like we do year in year out. I belive we are capable, but being realistic it's very hard to invisage an outcome where we pick up 3 points. If we were at home then maybe.

With the players we have had we should not have this atrocious record against the big teams.

Good luck today

We also seem to never have a fit squad going into a key game. With a fully fit squad, even with Wengers tactics we'd stand more of a decent chance.

Today will probably be a classic example of Wenger's inept tactical game.

David Silva is the best play maker for me in the world and he is the heartbeat of City. If you let him play, he will kill us.

There has to be a ploy to try and stop him

Our record against City is decent. Its only Chelsea and Utd we roll over for.

We have beaten City at the Etihad once in the last 6 years. Our record against City recently has not been decent.

Walcott didn't even play. Talk about wide of the mark
