Darren Fletcher

It does make me cringe when some Utd fans say he would have made the difference against Barca in the 2009 final if he wasn't suspended. Yeah right, he would have been chasing shadows with the quality of passing from Xavi, Iniesta and co. That Barca side were something else.

Dink, but please learn to read. I never said that fletch would have made us win the CL final but most would agree that having a dogged player like fletch in cm like he had been all season in helping us get to the cl final would have been a better option than Anderson who was as anonymous as you can get in Rome.

You can be as sarcastic as you want but you're just embarrassing yourself if you think that Anderson was a better option than fletch, especially as we saw how Barca in 2009 struggled against Chelsea when up against a team who roughed them up a bit.

You would have needed Fergusons best team to beat that Barcelona side.

Honestly guys, learn to read you utter cretins. I said Fletcher would have improved us in that final rather than be a guaranteed reason we'd have won.

It pains me to be in the company of so many people who don't realise just what a job a player like Fletcher did against the teams he was played against.

He would have made us more competitive in the middle with added bite but we would have likely still been humiliated that night.

No shame losing in those 2 finals to one of the greatest sides ever, however much Fergusons tactics were the wrong ones.

I agree that we probably would have lost with fletch in the side. But they weren't unbeatable that season imo. They fluked their way past Chelsea to get to that final and it was annoying that the one midfielder we had who would have disrupted their flow was suspended.

He was part of our best side at that time and would have improved us. I really do rate that Barca side and there's no shame in losing to them. But fletch not being there did make us weaker.

He did change his tactics

...................

No he did not.

You are obviously unaware of what mistake I am talking about then and it is very simple. The mistake was still playing a midfield two against a midfield three.

VC - I swee you have entered queen bîtch mode again.

Of course he changed tactics, try paying attention during games. He didn't change the one thing that we are somehow supposed to know you are solely talking about when you say "he didn't change tactics".

For some reason, because you talk with a forthright (read arrogant) tone, people think you actually understand football.

Didn't change tactics

You have to treat this man like a comedian. I just read his stuff and laugh now. The only time you see him talking sense, is when his master macca writes an article.

i never said Anderson was a better option, but Fletcher would have made no difference whatsoever.

Neither player would have made a blind bit of difference in that game.

The way people go on, that Barca side were unstoppable. Yes, they were good but like I said before, Chelsea were the better team in the semis that year against them because they were roughed up which was the one thing that Barca struggled against.

We started that final brilliantly and had we had a player like Fletcher who was excellent at closing down players and disrupting the flow then maybe we could have been a bit closer. As we've seen with Barca since 2009 they've lost to lesser teams who frustrate them. Fletcher, rather than Anderson is the type of player who would have done that. He did it in the semis against arsenal and we did miss him in the final despite what people say.

You really need to learn how to debate properly instead of getting on your high and mighty horse every time someone pulls you up for talking bollox.

Classic irony... I knew you yanks were shît at it, but never that bad

I do understand football. Just not in the limited way that you do.

Sure, you understand it in that limitless way where you think SAF didn't change any tactics.

Classic.... Up there with your "Not many managers play with inverted wingers" line.

I bet you are still arguing that one

This would be a superb retort, if I was a Yank. As I am not it makes you look a bit of a plum.

Oh, and you don't understand the meaning of the word irony.

I wouldn't put much on it then, because in being with your loser status, you would lose that bet.

Robb

I certainly agree that Fletch would have been more effective than Anderson.

sounds like you might have admitted you were completely clueless on that one and stopped arguing the case.

Maybe there is hope for you yet.

Or that you are completely wrong, again, and that I am not still arguing the case of something from about six months ago.

I leave that to people like you.

Well, not quite completely wrong..... you were clueless... You just haven't admitted it.

Well, yes, completely wrong. Because I haven't bothered to continue arguing about something from 6 months ago.

Which part of completely wrong don't you understand?

You are showing yourself up here.

I take it this is where you have put a handkerchief on your head, stuck two pencils up your nose and are sat in a corner shouting " wibble'.

i love that you will walk away thinking you have "won" this, blinded to the fact that you have, yet again, shown your lack of football knowledge of saying SAF didn't make any tactical changes in the 2nd final.

High five.

Well done for "winning"
