His agent wants around the same amount for Gareth Bale which of course is laughable. Any footballers with some genuine talent isn't going to consistently break world-records.
I do think £60m would be more than enough, but I don't see us spending that money unless we've guaranteed a Champions League spot next season.

I could see him at either PSG or Man City, He is the perfect replacement for the Toure who could he off to Inter in the summer.
PSG would be a big lure for him he is from Paris after all.

Could City or PSG meet FFP with an £80m fee?
Could real accommodate him in CM? I know they have Rodriguez Kroos and Modric.

If he signed a 5 year contract, that's 16m loss for FFP. Both could easily cover that.
I agree £16m per year doesn't sound all that much but divide any fee by 5 and that's the case. If it was that simple what didn't PSG get DI Maria last season? They certainly wanted him and he has made it clear he'd have made that move.
Whatever way you cut it, it's an £80m fee plus wages.
Because they bought Luiz and so couldn't with the sanctions.
City released their figures recently and would have passed if you had included Pogba for example.
So they favoured luiz over di Maria. Hmmmm. I'm not convinced by that.
Surprised city are within FFP given their relative anonimity on the work stage, relatively low attendances and Market valued sponsorship deals plus spending £30m plus on the likes of fernando, fernandinho and mangala and still able to afford a world record fee.
Makes FFP Pretty pointless really.

Perhaps you should try reading the accounts instead of the papers then. The main increase was from broadcasting and the two main commercial deals were with bt and Nissan. Coupled with that, we got more from the CL as we progressed out of the group, won the league and sold out every home pl game. Due to who we sold and released, our profit and loss stayed virtually identical with those incoming players.
In terms of PSG, they bought Luiz way before it was known Di Maria was available and was offered.
VIK - Not sure you'd be saying that if city got him and he won them the European cup.
Yeah Melton, all sound legit.
Do you really think PSG and other clubs only found out di Maria was available when we all did? No, they would have known well in advance of the luiz deal bud.

Not sure if your first statement is sarcastic or not. If it is, then just read the accounts. Uefa are happy with it but I'm sure you know more than them...
In terms of Di Maria, he didn't sign for United until two and a half months after a deal for Luiz had been signed. His future was not known during the World Cup and it was after that his agent started speaking to every big club going. You were the ones willing to pay and get him, no one else either could or wanted to. Had PSG not bought Luiz and didn't have sanctions, then they would have put an offer in for both him and Toure.
This was all played out pretty publicly though so I'm not sure where your stance is coming from?
Luiz was signed before the World Cup.
Di Maria was still trying to get a new contract off Madrid at that time. Why do you think it took so long for him to be transferred to us? He obviously wasn't available at the time they got Luiz.
The fees being banded about for Pogba are ludicrous. I think we could use similar amounts to strengthen more than just that position.
Depends on the market, though, as we can't always predict who is available and for what price.

To be fair though Macca, you have only just found out about Shergar.
You got rid of Pogba for free, that is ridiculous considering it now.
