Successful teams are built on club stability. You sort of had it under Pearce. Now look at it.

Yeah but the team couldn't beat average Championship teams, and crap ones (yours accepted). So he had to go. I'm a big Stuart Pearce fan and feel sorry for him but at the end of the day his backroom staff just were not good enough.

Pearce's biggest problem was bringing in too many players he had worked with at under 21 level.

Senior players like Hobbs and Wilson will need to stnd up and hopefully the younger ones will respond

One lesson has been learned I hope. When choosing your manager ignore the fans. The last two managers were fan choices and they both failed. The fact that not many of the fans would have chosen DF is a good sign.

The trouble is that a number of the positives that SP and PF were working towards have now likely been wiped out by goings on. So they were positives for six months and for at least a couple of them we're back to square one at best

It is feeling a lot like last Feb, isn't it? Just when we thought it was safe and a that... I also have a bit of a horrible feeling that Freedman has been employed by Fawaz as a lap dog who will be easily pliable. Sorry for being negative but the repeated kicking we have had this week is taking its toll.

LP, I think the feel good factor has well and truly dissipated after the last 48 hours shenanigans. If DF gets off to a good start, there will be a lot of exasperation directed towards the players as to why they have suddenly started performing. If things continue south then I can see it getting very heated down at the CG as the frustrations really start to come out.

I think it's worse than that Will to be honest. It feels like the CEO was just a token role somewhat and wasn't allowed to do their job properly. As more mud is chucked, more sticks and it's not the work of someone who is easy to cut out of the club this time.

It was strange that it took long to employ a CEO last year but it makes sense now as it seems like Fawaz wasn't serious about the role and just wanted a face in the role to appease the fans. PF must be kicking himself that he fell for it. A lot of what he has done is a smokescreen to be honest.

I really don't get it as Fawaz seems to revel in positive attention from fans and has an affection for the club. All the stuff that is going on at the moment seems to be running us into the ground somewhat. Whether he sells up or not, I can't see this ending well.

Football is a dodgy business with lots of dark corners. Sometimes running a football club requires a light to be shone in those corners, sometimes you have to go into those corners with the light off, and if you do go into those corners be careful who sees you coming out.

The chairman should decide which corners to go into. It is the job of the CEO to decide how to negotiate the corners; it is one of the things they are good at.

Basically the chairman decides what he wants to happen. Those around him should be left to decide how to make it happen and then make it happen

I read an analogy in the NEP recently that basically stated with regard FAH, 'this is his train set and no one. Else is going to play with it'. Although I don't doubt FAH does genuinely care for the club, and for that matter the fans and their opinion oh himself, using the above. Analogy as a blue print will only ever end in tears. From the fans point of view, if this train set becomes unrepairable we. Are left with nothing but memories, FAH could walk away and buy another one. FAH needs to take his head out of the sand, and start SERIOUSLY listening to the advice I am sure he is being given. Let's get this train back on track, and not parked in a sidings to rot.

Today's Telegraph

Dougie Freedman will be unveiled by Nottingham Forest on Tuesday with the club facing further turmoil after the departure of chief executive Paul Faulkner.

Forest have been plunged into another off-field crisis after Faulkner followed Stuart Pearce out of the exit door, with sources claiming his position was untenable under the regime of chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi.

Pearce, the legendary former captain, has also rejected a consultancy role at the City Ground to finally sever his links with the club following his dismissal by the Championship club on Sunday.

Freedman was appointed barely an hour after Pearce’s dismissal was confirmed and is due to hold a press conference today but it is Al-Hasawi, the Kuwaiti owner, who is facing renewed scrutiny after the exit of Faulkner.

Telegraph Sport understands Faulkner, who was appointed in August, was frustrated for more than four months by the restrictions placed on him and clashed repeatedly with Al-Hasawi’s assistants

He was keen to introduce a proper structure and long-term plan for the future but was frequently ignored and undermined by financial director Lalou Tifrit and Hassan Saef, two aides close to Al-Hasawi.

The Football League is believed to have written to Saef last year to ask him to subscribe to the owner and directors’ test, amid suspicions he is involved in daily operations at the club.

Faulkner is alleged to have been exasperated by Al-Hasawi’s delay in paying clubs for players, with Hull City and Crystal Palace thought to have been waiting for payments owed for the Thomas Ince and Jack Hunt deals respectively.

Peterborough are also owed around £1.5million for Forest's £5.5million signing Britt Assombalonga and chairman Darragh MacAnthony accused Al-Hasawi of missing a payment on Monday night, insisiting it had prevented them from signing players.

In a series of tweets, he wrote: "There wont be any incoming signings today but that has nothing to do with players having to leave etc, the real reason is due
to a certain championship club failing to make an agreed large payment (not thousands btw) last week on plyr they bought from us.

"This same club did this to us in August & now again. Truthfully its a disgrace & their chairman is the same. It has put us last minute in a terrible predicament.

"Its also a shambles the Football League allow this nonsense to carry on & not for the first time. I'm also sure we are not only club who its happened to but the knock on effect is outrageous."

Many agents and suppliers are also understood to have been paid late or are still waiting for money.

There is no suggestion that Al-Hasawi is experiencing financial difficulties but there have been issues regarding the distribution of funds since the takeover in the summer of 2012.

The final straw for Faulkner came when Freedman’s appointment was made without him even being consulted.

Faulkner, who previously held a similar role at Aston Villa, informed Al-Hasawi of his decision to resign and was promptly placed on gardening leave.
Pearce’s extensive back-room staff, which included Steve Wigley, Brian Eastick and Tim Flowers, have also been put on gardening leave in a mass clear-out which is likely to cost a significant amount of money in pay-offs.

Freedman addressed Forest’s players at the training ground on Monday morning in a brief discussion and is expected to bring in long-serving assistants Lennie Lawrence and Curtis Fleming. His contract is rumoured to only be until the end of this season.

The 40-year-old is Al-Hasawi’s seventh managerial appointment in just over two-and-a-half years and he will be working under a transfer embargo after the club breached financial fair play rules.

Despite those financial restrictions, Forest managed to stave off interest from West Bromwich Albion in winger Michail Antonio while Burnley were rebuffed in an attempt to sign Henri Lansbury

The train set analogy is a good one, and one that has been said before.

However, if I was seriously minted and it was my train set that I really cared about, I might have a short period of jiggling and tinkering about with it to try and make sure it was the best train set possible amongst those of other model train enthusiasts. But, if that failed, and some pip-squeak of a competitor like “Choo Choo Bob” was visibly doing better than me (to the point that I was losing face) then it would be ‘glove’s off time’ and I would chuck all available cash I had at it to get things back on track.

Fawaz seems happy to ‘keep tinkering’, which is a worry. He should either take up another hobby, or get fully on board and blow the likes of Choo Choo Bob out of the water.

On a more serious note, that Telegraph article is very worrying for Forest. Its an awful way to run a football club and you cant blame Faulkner for leaving
