I'd give it to Lucas but I dont think Rodgers rates him and I'd not be surprised to see him go in the summer as well.

I wouldnt be surprised if Lovren was to gain some form and force his way into the side regularly if he got the vice captaincy

Would be Sakho but I'm not 100% sure he's nailed down a starting position as yet. If BR sees him as first choice CB then he's the obvious choice (assuming his English is up to scratch).

If not then probably Sturridge.

On what basis does Rodgers not rate him?

In my naivity, I actually thought that, with his performances both at club and national level, Lovren would be the long-term successor, but, if that were ever to happen, it's a very long way off.

At present, I would see it as a three horse race between Can, Sakho and Lallana.

Sakho for me but I reckon it'll be Skrtel.

Surely won't be Can he's only 20!

Lallana would be possible, as would Sakho as both have captaincy experience. I'm hoping it's Lucas or Skrtel.

Skrtel should be captain.

I don't think Skrtel is confident enough to be captain.

Always seems confident to me.

i agree. its just that occasionally hes gets a little too confident in bulldozing his opponents when trying to win the ball. He aint Terminator for nothing!

I would put Hendo as captain over Skrtel as I think he has so much to offer as captain, he seems to adopt a Gerrardesque role on the field conducting things from central midfield and seems to fit the captaincy role very well. Plus he's a long term choice.

Skrtel should be vice for me.

He was not an automatic choice for BR. Only our poor defensive (and offensive) form forced BR to use Lucas.

For the record I have always rated Lucas, but don't think BR thinks the same way. If BR had an ideal starting 11, don't think Lucas would feature in it.

Lucas has been in the team since day 1 under Rodgers.

He lost his place when injured and we played a different style, which proved successful and took us to 2nd place.

That style wasn't successful this season, so he brought him back in and has basically played him since.

He has also only ever said good things about him since he walked in the door and has never openly tried to sell him.

2 plus 2 doesn't equal 203.

There was a nice article in the Independent before the Chelsea second leg that it was Lucas' performance in the game against Real that Rodgers was so impressed with that he brought him back into the starting line up.
