Dons set to sign striker MacDonald as Baldock heads for the exit
Dons are set to announce the signing of Brentford striker Charlie MacDonald, MK NEWS understands.
The forward was at stadiummk last night for a medical and the deal is expected to be confirmed later on today.
MacDonald's arrival means that Sam Baldock is almost certainly on his way out of the club, as the new forward will be regarded as his replacement.
If this is true, then its good news we have a replacment lined up, but I dont think anyone can replace Baldock at the moment! Just remember its all speculation at the moment and we dont know what club has bid for him. Lets just hope he is in the squad for saturday! COYD
According to news reports Sam is down at West Ham for a medical which should all be comleted this afternoon - so sadly I dont think we are going to see him tomorrow
Not gonna lie guys, fuming we've (pissibly) replaced Sam with Charlie Macbleedin'Donald....I don't judge a player before he starts with us, but if he's the highest we can aim for then the only thing I can say is ''
I'm proud for Sam and he leaves with my blessing, but what a [potential] bad bad choice of replacement!
...Plus, the money for Sam won't go into transfers methinks....Probs going towards debts
well some will have already gone on macDonald - and I suspect the rest will go on a loan defender rather that an actual purchase - Flannigan will be groomed for the main spot in the coming few seasons
Dont know much about MacDon - I was hoping for Le Fondre, but guess that was just going to take too much time

"MacDonald signing confirmed by MK as Baldock nears West Ham switch
Dons have confirmed the signing of Brentford striker Charlie MacDonald on a two year deal.
The forward, brought to the club in light of Sam Baldock's imminent departure, has signed for an undisclosed fee.
Baldock is set to join West Ham United who have seen off competition from Southampton for his signature.
He has undergone a medical and the deal is likely to be completed shortly."
Hhmm - seems that the £2m may not be quite what is says - something about £750k initial payment - so likely hood is that its more to follow based on performance and probably a sell on fee - but that means (if its true) we wont have that much to re-invest at the moment !!
All good and I would write off MacDonald just yet. He has an eye for goal and Robbo certainly sees something in him.
West Ham or Southampton how can Sammy decide. I know fight.
I wouldn't write off MacDonald yet I meant.
Agree Furz - lets see - if he is good at knocking goals in, he is going to get plenty of service and opportunity from our attacking midfield and wings - am of course sad to see Sammy go, but West Ham will be a really good move for him - and he has got to make the most of his career
I think it shows a real lack of ambition when we are prepared to sell our top player when we are top of the league. Its not as if he wanted to go and was unhappy. They might as well put a for sale sign on his back!
dartford, the writing was on the wall when the club accepted Posh's offer before the season started. Sam did not want to go there, but when another club makes an almost 70% improved offer - and its West Ham, then Sam has to think of his future and the club are 70% better off than before.
There is no lack of ambition, just a reality and the squad is still really strong, so lets see how MacDonald fits it - could work out really well all round
Its just a law of football. A higher placed team with more support and who can pay better wages will inevitably get their man.
I really hope we can keep hold of Baldock, at least until January, if he keeps on banging them in like this his value will only increase anyway. IMO Powell should replace Baldock in the team. I remember thinking last year that Powell would be worth millions one day, i think he has the potential to be even better than Sam.
Out of interest if you had a choice between Southampton and West Ham, which would you choose?
Tough question - I think the chance to work with Sam Alardyce would be fantastic, and West Ham have a team that should go up (and no question about their support) - but - they have big financial issues and there is alot of boardroom baggage.
Saints have got a great manager, who may well be going on to bigger things. Also a big club, and on the up this time.
I think on balance West Ham and the Brady Bunch
Tough choice I agree, I think if you went to Southampton and played alongside Ricky and scored 20+ goals a season, you'd be a cult hero, whereas West Ham, he may get one good year in the Championship before he's replaced by an over rated foreigner and if on a goal drought, could be potentially sent out on loan and have a 'typical' Championship career if you like, but it could be a once in a lifetime oppertunity..
nooo... how do you know furz?
he had a medical this afternoon down there, and the rest was crossing the i's and dotting the t's. - its been all over the web this afternoon and now confirmed - Mail say its for £1.8m, others say its undisclosed.
so disappointed... I hope Sammy does well though, good luck to him. Will always be one of my favourites.

picture of him in Claret and Blue - like you dddd sad he is going, but its a great move for him - we have a really good team though and loads more players coming through - and we still have a Baldock as one of our own - George !! COYD and lets thrash Stevenage tomorrow !!
Just a gutting feeling to lose our best and favourite MK player (alongside Jabo and Lewie). Do you still think we have what it takes to win promotion?
