I believe Kenny has made his mind up on this player
-----------------

It's just that your opinion is mis-guided. You think Kenny has made up his mind about Meireles, why? Because he was on the bench for the first couple of games??

He had missed a chunk of pre-season so wasn't fully fit, which is why Meireles was on the bench, just like how Suarez was on the bench as he was rested from coming back from the Copa America. So as Suarez was on the bench do you think Suarez isn't wanted by kenny too?!!

You can have your opinion, but when you suggest things like, Kenny has made up his mind, then it's just misguided delusion.

It was always an opinion.

Girls girls girls, please put the handbags away!!!!! For me, both RM and Aqua are fantastic players, world class I'd say. The fact is that - for reasons Kenny will never make public - Aqua has gone. That in my view makes more the case for RM to be kept, at all costs. Both Adam and Hendo have shown that they have the skill, and the potential, no question. RM is 'the actual'. He's delivered the goods, last season, MOTS. Now that Aqua has left, we've got to hang on to RM. What I don't like is that the club says he is 'only 1-2 weeks from coming back'. I hope, and fear, that a deal may still be in the offing. I hope I am wrong yet again. JimmyTheRed

What is wrong with people these days? What else? Sell Gerrard?
Meireles is now our second best midfielder now that Squad is gone.

I don't even know where to start.

Just leave this your Sturridge loving to yourself.

We don’t need RM
--------

I think the one talking garbage is clearly you here. If we lose Aquilani and Meireles then yes we do need another, unless you suppose Henderson is the answer. Sick of a few Liverpool fans who are prepared to accept mediocrity. Meireles was one of our better players last season and a few are prepared to lose him for an unproven striker. It's ridiculous. To think it would be Aquilani and Meireles out for Adam and Henderson is not improvement, it is getting worse. We need the likes of Adam and Henderson for squad depth to colver for the likes of Meireles and Gerrard, not to replace them. We've already lost Aquilani, we don't want to lose another, so enough with these crazy comments.

Can't argue with that.

There seems to be a lot of love for RM on the board so bear with me here, I'm not actually that convinced by him.

Not saying he's a bad player by any stretch of the imagination but pivotal? I struggle to get there. Last season I thought was a real mixed bag, after KK came in sure there were great games but I think we might be getting slightly carried away with the important goals he scored. The first half of the season I think average would be a generous assessment. I know there was settling in time and a seriously under-performing team but even so, lacked bite in midfield and games seemed to pass him by.

Another issue I have is that I don't really know his best position. I thought he'd been brought in as a box to box central midfielder but both RH and KK have, at various times, played him out wide. Is that genuinely his best position or are they slightly reluctant to trust him in the middle of the park?

I'm not saying we should sell him and I agree with those that have said we have a depth to midfield now which should be maintained, but one of our best/most important players? Not sure I'd go that far.

It's because he's younger, you see. Kids nowadays believe that the younger the age, the better the player. as soon as you turn 30, you're instantly useless.

"For whatever reason KD has decided that RM is surplus to requirements"

MCALAX17 (U9841) - No-one's asking you for the reason why Kenny might want to get rid of him, they're asking for any evidence that suggests that RM is surplus to requirements.

As far as we have all seen, RM has been coming back from injury and has been steadily broken back in to the first team as you would with any player returning from injury so how exactly does it look like he's surplus to requirements?

As has been pointed out, by the looks of it, you and the OP are completely talking out your backside. That's just my opinion though

To be honest I could put exactly the same argument forward for Gerrard.

I personally dont want us to sell Meireles. I think he was excellent for us in the 2nd half of last season and was another to blossom under KK and with the added creative spark of Suarez. That said if we got another huge offer from another club it should be considered given his age (I know he is only 29 but his value is only going to decrease from this summer).

We can build through the squad with the money reinvested as with the Torres money.

Plus I dont like seeing all those writing off Adam and Henderson after two or three games. They havent set the world alight but what they have done is been quietly effective. They have allowed us to dominate the midfield play and possession which is something that was lacking horribly last season. They also seem to be comfortable the pass and move style we are using under KK.

Personally I thought Henderson played very well against Arsenal. It was a mature and accomplished performance even if it wasnt barnstorming. The problem is these days that if a new player that isnt a central defender doesnt come in and play like Messi everyone thinks he is rubbish.

The qualities of such players seem to be lost and only noticed when they arent present.

See Xabi Alonso as an example. Look how much we missed him. Look back through the seasons, our dips in form often coincided with an injury to Alonso.

You're really gonna have to change your name. You're confusing me as you're talking sense but your name suggests otherwise. My head hurts.

Really? Gerrard's season was, by his standards, very disappointing albeit disrupted by injury. I know in the past people have claimed SG's goals have masked some average performances but I don't think you can say that for last season. For a start there weren't enough goals!

Other than that I agree with much of what you say. Of the 2 league games this year our midfield has controlled three quarters of the game (second half v's Sunderland being the odd one out), I think Adam has looked good and Henderson promising.

At the risk of further infuriating half of the posters on this thread, I also think Sturridge has real potential and would be quietly happy if he came to Anfield.....

For whatever reason KD has decided that Steven Gerrard, Reina and Suarez are surplus to requirements, using him as leverage to bring in a striker would make sense.

Just a feeling I've got.
