If it was a dislocation, the kneecap itself is no biggie if it popped out and went back again. May need surgery to prevent it happening again in the future. Other than that it depends on any associated injuries. A kid in my lad's team did it and his screams could have been heard ten miles away, so I guess it can be pretty painful. He had it surgically fixed and was out for a few months. He had no other injuries. Barker completely trashed everything and it is an utter miracle he has even got this far.
I have a ruptured PCL, i went in for a 50/50 with somebody about 10 stone heavier than me and came off worse. I'm stuck with it for life as they are reluctant to operate on PCL injuries due to the low success rate. The Navy have just shelled out £700 for a custom built, Carbon fibre CTI brace for me to help support my knee when im training. It's painful everyday so i feel for anyone who suffers any form of knee injury.
I was sat in the upper Bridgford so didn't have the best view of the injury, but when you see 3 or 4 Wigan players furiously waving for the medics and stretcher to come on, you know it's bad
Yeah well, I had a tooth out last week and it's still sore but you don't hear me whining on about it.
Vidal,
was it a big tooth?
Vidal:
Don't worry. Your second set come along shortly.
Re Assombalonga:
I winced when I thought about it, and how long ago it was that Shaun Barker had his catastrophic collision. Really hope for Britt's sake it's 'just' a dislocation and the ligament damage is minimal.
It must have been pretty big as the Tooth Fairy appeared unable to carry it away.
Vidal, it certainly wasn't a wisdom tooth < >
Why thank you reddave, for the inference that my wisdom remains undiminished despite recent events.
I didn't see that as I just cast a cursory at the score last night I hope he's ok, you don't wish injury on anyone.
S.hit man - hadn't seen this until now. Do we know how bad? Always seems to happen to the lads whose personality deserves to earn them a bit of luck.

Heard Barker played for the U21's today. Genuinely happy to hear that as my bro says he is a top bloke whenver he has been in then lounge at PP.
Hope Assombalonga hasn't done some thing similar. He is younger than Barker so maybe he wouldn't take as long to heal?

Will- Shaun is indeed a great bloke. He showed me the still from the collision which caused his injury the other week - truly horrific. In his words, the surgeon who fixed him is the best in the world, and if he returns to competitive football it will be his crowning acheivement. He pretty much destroyed everything in the knee. I hope Assombalonga's isn't as bad as that, but to see Barks out there for 45 minutes yesterday was truly inspirational.

It sounds like it is a miracle he can go full contact again so hope it all goes well. I rate him higher than Keogh and Buxton so he could be a massive plus for Derby around April/May time.
Think he will do well to do anything but a cameo this season Will, but he is not a man to underestimate that's for sure. I would bet my bottom dollar that if Britt is as badly injured, it won't be long before Shaun visits and offers some kind of moral support
I'd love to see that Will, but a cameo's perhaps more likely this season.
Agreed Wicklow
Any news on the extent of the injury?
Nothing I've heard of yet, No_Wonder, you complete nutcase.
Apparently a fan saw Assombalonga at the QMC and he said it wasn't too bad so that should hopefully be a good sign.
He certainly seemed quite smiley on that photo (hopefully not just because he'd been morphined to the brim!).
I hope the lads knee repairs quickly. Can they repair his attitude at the same time?
While I don't wish ill on any player no matter who he plays for and hope the lad makes a full recovery, it's quite topical as I cast my mind back to the night and next day on these boards when Shaun barker had his horrendous injury and there were plenty of less than savoury comments posted.
So ill pass on the back scratching.
Just seen he`s out for a year, not good news for him or Forest, wishing him well it is a long road, hope he gets back to where he was, playing wise.
