You won't get Bale for £75m

posted on 18/2/15

I would love Bale back, however I do think we need to develop our youth players and try and spread the responsibility of scoring across more of the team

We have a special relationship with Real....no, really!

So are you saying he has gone up in value, a better player...and is that why he's being booed

i'd guess we have first refusal on him anyway

Yeah...Bale, Kane & Eriksen = 60 goals a season minimum

Hell yeah, Bale back for sure. Need players that create fear in the opposition when they are on the team sheet.

Bales goals to Eriksen, Kane and Chadli..thats a lot of fire power.

Mason, Bentaleb, Stambouli and a Capoue replacement can be the engine room behind them.

Bale would not come back to Spurs, his head has already been turned by bigger clubs. Not sure I would want him back anyway, it did not take a lot for him to jump ship, he could have easily stayed at least one more season, but choose to leave. Spurs did a good bit of business, and Bale is now in the past, and anyway no way would Levy contemplate spending all that on one player with the new stadium to fund.

Madrid probable still owe us Bale money. That would be deducted from hi transfer price. In effect we would have loaned him to them for a tidy profit.

Most of the players we bought after Bale were on clauses and low cash deposit purchases. So there's money in the Spurs/Madrid system.

I love the way people take a simple either or question by the OP and add their clauses and theories. Yes we know Bale probably wouldn't come and yes we can't afford his wages now but that wasn't the question.

Or at least thats not what I understood the OP to be saying

Of these two scenarios I would want us to use the money to strengthen in key positions, rather than blow it on one (albeit exceptionally good) player.

A lot of people, including the 'experts' do say that we would probably be on the next level if we had this one exceptionally good player though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, I understand that view. But I still think we're weak defensively, despite Rose's improvement and Dier's development. And I think everyone would agree that we need at least one new striker?

nah. Bale was class but he has moved on and so have we.

Loa, it was reported recently that RM / Spurs agreed a 5 year repayment plan on the Bale sale so I'm sure the accountants could wangle his return on reasonable terms. All pretty much academic but yeah, would love the boy back - Eriksen, Bale, Kane, Walker et al running at you would put the fear of God into any defence.

regardless of the score in the first leg, Poch needs to leave all the key players at home.

don't even travel them. its the travel that fatigues you as much as the game. flights in early hours. sleeping patterns messed up etc.

whether we are 2-0 up or 2-0 down, Kane Lloris, Eriksen, Bentaleb, Vertonghen and Walker should be nowhere near Italy for the return leg.

Forget what Bale has...'done'
Only logical way to look at it would be...watch Bale's recent performances...and then ask yourself...would you pay £50mill for him?

I think our academy has shown we have squad quality players capable of doing decent jobs when called upon. What we really lack is top quality. Any team in the premiership can buy £11-16m rated players.

If we get a chance to get Top quality we should always go for it and not be afraid if it doesn't work out.

Sign quality then have the b4lls to play them. IF Poch wants a top quality player from abroad. IF we signed the player...I would expect any player over £20m to be starting every game.
Our squad should be a blend of academy and Top class. We have enough 6/7s out of 10 players. I don't think we need any more of them.

I've been really impressed with our academy. They make decisions to blow cash on a Top players like Bale easier in my opinion. Now that Poch has similar faith in our youth set up. we could become a very threatening club to the existing 'Sky 4'.

So we are say 0-2 downhope not as I'm going first leg......and you want to throw it away?
It's a realistic(!) chance to get in the CL.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

9 games to win the Europa

15 games left to secure a top 5th place.

We could easily focus on the Europa, roll the dice and hope we do it. Top 4 will be just as tough....all cup finals from here on in!
