As long as Toulalan and Kongdobia don't bully is, we'll be fine. And hopefully Carvalho doesn't play because he's apparently never lost a match vs us before.
I think they will be very physical especially in MF. Actually similar to how they played against us in the emirates cup
From the sounds of it, we will need to make sure we score at home because away will be quite unlikely. Also judging by their goal scoring record, I think this is the game where we should start with attacking players rather than be conservative as is usually the case in CL ties. Can already see the game is going to be played majority in their final third. If Ox is fit by then, he has to start. Don't think this will be a game where Walcott can start, need to penetrate their tight defence.

It will be interesting to see Kondogbia against us. Many see him as a potential future Arsenal player, but I am not convinced.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He dominated our midfield in the Emirates cup.

I don't really take much notice of friendly performances tbh. We were lacklustre in that second EC game.

Kondogbia will be an upgrade on Coquelin, but he is more box to box in style.
Pretty sure our scouting team will also take a keen eye to him.
Box to box is fine, as long as he can win the ball back and keep possession to an high standard then he would be a good player for us.
I think this will be the easiest champions league knockout game we have ever had to be honest. The way they set up is absoluely perfect for us, no cynical phsiycal fouling or pressing that disrupts our play. They are just very well organised. I dont think they will be able to handle our quality

May seem so on paper, but CL games if anything have proved aren't easy. Unless you're Barca/Real/Bayern knockout games are tough.
if we were the old beautiful football fabregas hleb arsenal we would probably lose against this type of team. we are a lot more direct now. it will be comfortable, im certain

don't be it will be far from comfortable
Toulalan was garbage and immobile last time I checked. And that was around six years ago.

Kind of how I feel, too, so now expecting Carvalho to dominate our entire strike force and then score a late goal from a corner.
Let's face it if we cant beat Monaco over two legs then we don't deserve to go any further in this competition.
We got the best draw that we could have expected . If we mess this up then the players and the manager will have to take a good long look at themselves. No excuses.
"The way they set up is absoluely perfect for us, no cynical phsiycal fouling or pressing that disrupts our play. They are just very well organised."
Yes exactly.
On paper should be fairly straightforward, but anything can happen in these games.
A 1-0 would more than do at home and make us overwhelming favourites to go through
Arsenal holding on to a 1-0? Come on lads. Who do you think you're fooling?
I would definitely take a 1-0, an away goal in the 2nd leg and the tie is over. No chance they will put 3 past us.
Who would we rather have go through from
Juventus / Dortmund
Man City / Barcelona
Porto / Basel
Assuming the rest have obvious answers
Don't watch Monaco on a regular basis so I'm not going to take a win as guaranteed. From the sounds of it though, if they even score then we are facking sh,it.
Chris - Dortmund, City and Porto.
We've already beaten 2 of the 3. And the other probably has the worst side they've had in 10 years (Porto).
I hope Dortmund stay in for a while, they are more likely to eliminate one of the big boys than Juve imo.
Would love to best Monaco and get one of Porto or Basel. A semi could be one cards here. Wouldn't mjnd Juve or Dortmund either, that would put the games right on balance. However any of Chelsea Barca Madrid and Bayern have to be avoided till semi
I hope so as well, Bats.
Makes the tournament more entertaining if an on form Dortmund are still in it.
The defense is definetely Monaco's best area. An early goal will be vital. As long as it stays 0-0 its going to be a long day for us. We shouldnt underestimate them. I watched them in recent League games and they looked solid and somehow manage to grind out results.
