Is Mata not available for you? Would he start maybe? Probably not I guess.

Josh is only 18 I am sure he will get some game time on saturday along with Mata.

next week we will have a front 3 of Mata Torres Sturridge and hopefully another midfielder in our squad.

Rome wasnt built in a day match 3 of a 38 game season if you inc cups could be nearer 50 games (with luck)

I'd prefer this line up

Hilario

Cole
Terry
Ivanovic
Bosingwa

Ramires
McEachran
Lampard

Malouda
Torres
Benayoun

Bench:

Turnbull
Alex
Ferreira
Mikel
Mata
Lukaku
Drogba

I'd drop Kalou and Anelka.

Unfortunately, Luiz is not fit yet

Patience... Rome wasn't built in a day!

We're buying creativity in - we bought Mata, we're going for a central playmaker. These players need time to train with the other players at the club before they can start.

Villas Boas will change the team. However, it will take longer than a preaseason - i'd say we've already seen a marginal improvement, no small feat with the group of players we have right now. (By which I mean they aren't particularly adaptable)

R.E. Malouda and Anelka, if they start it's because there's nobody better to start there yet. (Obviously Mata is SUPERIOR, but he doesn't know the team at all yet!)

And Romeu is unlikely to be match fit

Everyone says they are happy to have AVB and to give him time to change things and introduce new players but then they ,aon when he doesn't do it overnight.
Seriously, if it's the same at Christmas then moan but not yet.

Rome wasnt buit in a day..., but you started building it on day 1! you didnt carry on with the old town for the first few weeks!

What im saying is yes we want to buy more creativity, but lets get the players playing in the right way at least. why hasnt benayoun or Josh played in the mata/modric kind of roles.

At least some minutes, when its is clear thats is what we have needed in the games so far!

i also really hope sturridge is put in when he's back - what more can he do - 8/9 goals for bolton, best pre season of our forwards.

Blue Kenyan- have you watched much of the U20's- you love Kakuta on every Article!

No, but by day one there was still nothing.

Benayoun may not be part of AVB's plans. McEachren, well i'd like to see him play, but he's pretty young to throw in the deep end and say 'produce the goods, week in and out'. And he'd need to as a central playmaker.

At least some minutes, when its is clear thats is what we have needed in the games so far!

I do agree with this. However, our 2 premiership games weren't exactly guarentees at any point in them. Bringing on Josh would be even more pressure 'Get on there son, turn the game around'. Yeah, he's been good under pressure so far, but there's such a thing as easing a player in.

i also really hope sturridge is put in when he's back - what more can he do - 8/9 goals for bolton, best pre season of our forwards.

As do we all. One thing i'm sure of, you'll see more of Danny and Josh under AVB than Carlo!

Oh, I forgot to say. AVB began building on day one, of course he did. He's paid inordinate amounts of cash, do you really think that these people sit around twiddling their thumbs?

Let's hope so anyway!!

AVB is eager to make a flying start, his thought I assume is that this same set of players made a great start to last season.

So if he can reach down and tap their potentials more then he can make them click, he was in for a rude awakening, now he needs to get it right, he cannot afford to be risky and be experimental, and that's his problem!!

It surely won't hurt to start Josh/Benayoun

dont give me josh is not ready

-----------------------------------------------------------------

This is a very personal subject it appears with our fanbase at present. It depends how you're looking at it ......

Is he ready to start the odd game here and there to give Lampard a rest, while having a chance to impress at the same time? Yes, 100%

Is he ready to replace Lampard and start week in week out, becoming this source of creativity we've been so desperately starved of in the last 12 months and beyond? No, n if you think he is you're dreaming.

Alan Hudson was a 1st team regular at Eighteen, with the attitude of many people on here and those who have selected the team over the last eighteen months, he would have never have got a game in the Famous Old Blue shirt!

There are also many current England midfielders who broke through at the age McEachran is breakthing throug now.

I remember Huddie Brummie! What days! Josh reminded me so much of him when he came on last seaon v Newcastle - running around making himself available, probing passes, support for other team-mates. But Josh I think has even better control!

If only Josh could be given a few starts and some encouragement - maybe he'd be up to the challenge.

Let's find out!

bloomike, I've said on other articles, IMO, Josh is the most naturally gifted midfielder we have produced since Huddy, Wilkins included.

Wilkins was our captain at 18 and yet some people want to wrap Josh up in cotton wool until he gets his pension.

If he played just 50% of our games this season it would be a massive boost for him and his Football education. Whats the worst that could happen our midfield can't be any more sterile than is is!
