What if Mayweather loses, he retires?

posted on 24/2/15

Floyd has 1 fight left on his contract, so he has to fight once more win lose or draw.

Will be an absolute duck of Khan if this happens.

Khans stated his desire to fight either Mayweather or Manny and Manny could now retire.

Coincedence...........I think not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

He has a deal with HBO till end of 2016 I think. I can see floyd manny fighting twice maybe next May when Floyd's a free agent.

Also I don't think Floyd's contract is the same if he loses

Still what a signing for showtime floyd has been the 2 biggest fights in boxing history. thank you floyd mayweather for giving us the big fights

It's the his logic that he ducked mosley I find funny even though floyd offered to fight him years before! When he did fight him he was P4P number 3 after just smashing margarito,

Where as freddy roach is on camera saying they literally wanted no part of mosley at 147lbs and are looking to stay away haha hypocrisy at its finest

So far Floyd has made losses on 3 of the 4 fights he has had with Showitme.

That is why Moonves got this fight done and forced Floyd to take it.

Can you post the links D4, I was under the impression that while it wasn't as much as they'd wanted he'd still made money (same as Manny Duckyo)

Well this could be embarassing, looking into it
Pac has had 19 PPVs with a total buy of 12690000
May has had 13 PPVs with a total buy of 14444000

Pacs average is 667895
Mays average is 1111077

Pacs last 5 PPV's
Bradley 1 - 890,000
Marquez 4 - 1,150,000
Rios - 475,000
Bradley II - 750,000
Algieri - 300,000

Mays last 5 PPV's
Cotto - 1,500,000
Guerrero - 875,000
Alvarez - 2,200,000
Maidana - 850,000
Maidana II - 925,000

No wonder Manny and Arum were begging for the fight with them numbers
(and yes I do have far too much time on my hands)

Will we ever see the likes of mayweather again in our life time I'm not so sure! He's the fighter of our generation and has made so much money for HBO and SHOWTIME they are devastated he's retiring. As for manny looking at his numbers no wonder he finally after 6 long years called out mayweather after a fight! First time he's called him out and first time he's agreed to drug tests and he gets the fight if only he had done that 6 years ago when mayweather was in his prime

To be honest Diamond I was pretty shocked when I looked all that up as although I knew Floyd's were higher, I didn't realise by how much and I didn't know just how much of a flop Pac was against Algieri.

The Floyd fans need to take it down a notch here, you're starting to sound as arrogant as Floyd himself.

This thread is just getting plain ugly. We know Floyd is a bigger name than Pacquiao (slightly) and we know that Floyd does better ppv numbers overall.

However Floyd's numbers were slipping in recent fights because the boxing public wanted to see Floyd fight Pacquiao and that is one of the main reasons we got to see this fight happen.

Floyd was under massive pressure to take this fight and if he hadn't there would have been public outrage and boycotting of his next fights.

The fight should have happened years ago but it didn't so please don't tell us that Floyd always gives us what we want because if he really did we'd probably have seen a few Mayweather Pacquiao fights by now.

Not just one fight at the end of their careers..

Your boy D4 posted the original one stating Floyd had to take this fight due to falling numbers, yet delving deeper it looks like it's Pac that's more desperate (Only an idiot would have though he'd get bigger numbers than Alvarez.)
Who said Floyd gives us what we want?

And yes I also think that Pacquiao will retire after this fight.

I actually think that Pacquiao's interest in boxing has dwindled hugely and the only reason he's carried on fighting is to finally get a shot at Floyd, something that he's wanted for years.

The only way Pacquiao won't be retiring after this fight is if he beats Floyd or maybe even if the fight ends in a draw.

If Pacquiao wins he'd probably give Floyd a rematch although we all know we won't see a rematch if Floyd wins.

Seeing how Floyd probably wins the fight I think we can assume these two will only fight once.

Wasn't it rumoured awhile back that Manny had money issues???

I don't think he's lost interest at all and in fact seems rejuvenated, he was very good against Marquez before getting stopped, IMO had Bradley figured out pretty quick (Algieri I ignore as I think he took that as a pay day (Priv wouldn't have been any better.)

Think you might be surprised Superb as I can see these 2 having about 3 fights UNLESS one of them dominates the other completely. The money involved is too big for all to ignore (tickets for this are rumoured to start at 1k)

3 of Floyd's last 4 fights didn't even make a million pvp's. Those are not the sort of numbers that Showtime were expecting or needing after Floyd's huge contract.

Floyd v Pacquiao will by far exceed the Cotto and the Canelo ppv's and will make up for the relatively poor ppv's Floyd got for the Maidana and Guerrero fights.

That is why we're seeing this Floyd Manny fight happen now. Not for any other reason.

Are you sure as other than people on forums I've not seen anything that says they're unhappy.

In fact everyones been spouting for 2 weeks how it's been Manny pushing for this, Manny contacting Floyd etc etc.

Can't have it both ways Superb.

Personally think it's Manny's last fight (350K) that's pushed this fight as it's gotta hurt that Floyd did over double that.

I hope you're right but I don't see it. Floyd wins the fight on points. Even if it's not a UD Floyd won't have any part of a rematch.

Look how difficult it's been to get Floyd to fight Manny just once.

The only way we'd see a Mayweather v Pacquiao 2 is if Manny wins.

Goes without saying though. Maidana is a bigger name than Algieri.
