Floyd is bookie's overwhelming favourite

Manny has a chance of course he does, more than a chance, he's one of the best fighters of all time and still one of the best in the world, if it goes the distance Floyd wins by 3/4 rounds though

The betting odds don't really reflect that though.

Floyd is 4/11 to win the fight whereas Pacquiao is only 9/4.

That's a huge difference.

Floyd is favourite, but Manny obviously has a chance of beating him, it's not a foregone conclusion

When the fight was touted 5 years ago. Pacquiao and Floyd were about the same odds at the bookies.

Maybe this is what kept Floyd scared for so long. Only now after the KO from Marquez and some sub par performances does Floyd have the balls to take on Pacquiao.

9/4?

Damn the odds are tumbling on Pacquiao.

I was gonna say I've seen Manny as high as 7/1 a few weeks ago

Yes there is a point in this fight if just to shut up the daft arguments.

Think your more likely to see both fighters get robbed by a draw than 1 or the other get a favourable decision. (Rematches mean more money, no winner means near certain rematch at inflated prices)

Love him or hate him, Floyd is just pure class and hasn't looked like losing for years, Manny's lost to Marquez and Bradley (no matter how controversial) and his last fight was against the mediocre Algieri who he couldn't get out of there.

Think to be honest it just shows how desperate for this fight Manny/Arum were as if he continues to go downhill then they'd never make the money off it.

Yup makes you wonder what the bookies know that we don't.

Douglas beat Tyson and he was 42/1 with some odds makers

Very well said D4, while most of the times the bookies are right it's not ALL the time and Manny should have a punchers chance (although his power seems to be on the wane, might be the reason for low odds)

4/11 compared to 9/4 are the sort of odds you'd get if a top four PL team were playing a League One side so I find the disparity weird and confusing.

Not really. MK Dons were anything from 8/1 to 12/1 at home to beat Man Utd.

They won 5-0.

Leeds were 14/1 against Man Utd a few years back, at Old Trafford...They won 1-0.

And the odds for the L1 sides were knowhere near 9/4 even when they played at home.

Weird comment.

Does the fact that Manny has never officially KO'd anyone at welterweight come into play here ??

(Manny did force De La Hoya into a stoppage though)

I suppose it does. Especially as Manny seems unlikely to win a decision in Vegas.

That's the only way I can see those odds being at all justified.

Man Utd 1/3 to beat sunderland 9/1 on Saturday

Arsenal 4/7 Everton 5/1

Southampton 4/7 Palace 5/1

Ok maybe a slight exaggeration with the League One comment but you get where I'm coming from surely.

This is meant to be the fight of the decade, probably the fight of the century so far.

Yet according to the bookies Pacquiao doesn't stand a realistic chance.

I just find that surprising.

Think you've hit the nail on the head superb and that it's Manny's really relying on a knockout punch as most cannot see how he can outbox Floyd.

If you didn't know much about boxing though it might make you wonder what all the hoohaa was about

Pacquiao has lost before. Floyd hasn't.

Thats the reason the odds are the way they are.

If Chelsea are top of the prem, unbeaten all season in 37 games & City are 2nd but have lost 3 games...and they play each other on the last day of the season, then even though the #1 & #2 teams in the country...Chelsea would be favourites.

posted on 26/2/15

I do get what you're saying though, If this is the biggest superfight ever to grace a boxing ring...then you'd expect it to be a 50/50 fight.

But the bookies want to earn as much money as possible whilst paying out as little as possible.

Agreed, but in that same scenario would Chelsea be 4/11 favourites compared to City at 9/4 ??

I can't see it.

Surely it would be much closer odds.

Not sure mate, but Bet365 have it as 2/5 vs 2/1 which could quite easily be the odds of CFC Vs MCFC if the situation was as I mentioned earlier.

Like I said previous, the fact that Floyd has never lost means he has to be favourite.

If they make Floyds odds any greater, and he does what he has done 48 times before then then they are set to lose billions on him.

Pac has lost before & by KO...so they are more comfortable giving 2/1 as they know people will back the shat out of him at that price....meaning they will earn more $$$$

Its all about the bookies trying to take as much $$$$ as possible, whilst paying out as little $$$$ as possible.
