I would sooner players burned themselves out, as you think they would, than just to limp out of all competitions, one by one.

The funny thing is if you guys were in the CL you would be playing your first team making the odd changes here and there if players are in the red zone as wenger likes to call it.
If im Harry Kane and im scoring for fun in the PL i want to play in the europa every game and bang in the goals. It breeds confidence.
Coming off the bench when your team is losing or playing like chit actually drains the confidence off players who are in form as they too get stuck in the lull of a football match your sturggling in due to fringe players not being upto it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If we were in the CL I'd hope we'd have a better squad and even with 1 or 2 rotations any changes wont have an adverse effect on the team. We have a big squad but take the core set of players out the rest are distinctly average.
We have a big squad but lack the quality for the CL. The days of Modric, Bales, VDV, berbatov, Keane are such a distinct memory. Nothing in that class now.

Are we suddenly just going to pluck half a dozen worldies out of nowhere that will be happy to just sit on the bench and play in the CL games. I think not. The squad would hardly improve at all even if Spurs were in the CL. All of the players you mentioned were nailed down first teamers. The current Spurs first XI is good, just as they were then. As is the case with most top teams, below the top XI they are all very limited. The problem Spurs are having in the Europa is the better teams are all putting out their pretty well first XIs, they are taking the competition seriously. Spurs are not.
It is likely that Spurs will finish between 5th and 7th in the PL, which will probably qualify us for the Europa, so it will be same again next season sadly.
I want to see us play two separate teams (injuries permitting), our best XI for PL matches, FA Cup games and latter stages Europa.
Whoever is left plays early stage Europa and League Cup, leaving our best players fresh for the PL.
The stats do not lie, the Europa seems to affect our league form and I agree the Europa format is a joke, 17 games to win it, CL failures parachuted into it etc.
We should give up on the Europa in future, the likelihood of us ever winning it in its current format is remote, let the second string loose on it and see how far they get imo.

Yea but why does it affect your league form as you dont even play your main players most of the time?
You can only say it affects your league form if you got the same XI playing every single game.
Sandy is right on this one. Either take it seriously with 1 or 2 changes here and there or just put the youths and reserves in it and leave the first team concentrate on the league and domestic cups.
Instead we change the team up 5/6 players but STILL make the first teamers travel which wrecks them. Its nonsense.

There is travel and lack of preparation time for the following PL game also to consider, most of our first team were in the Europa squads even though they were only usually on the bench.
Would love a European cup final

so yeah. Squad is not good enough! You cant expect to have 1 main striker at the club. To think we were even prepared to loan out Ade???????.So what would have happened If Kane picked up an injury..You cant expect to play the best 11 if each time if you are competing on 3 fronts and don't have the right players to compete ..I'd rather win in a final on Sunday and take the Europa league more seriously when we have the squad. Sorry , we have to disagree on this one.

The reserve team in the early stages of the Europa League would not get out of the group.
Watch out or you'll get the Kane!!(previously once Bale leaves they are facked)
So what would have happened If Kane picked up an injury.
But that is just the point, Kane has not picked up an injury, WTF is he doing sitting on the bench for both legs of an important cup tie, same with the FA Cup. Got knocked out of both cup competitions with a fully fit top striker sitting on the bench. Absolutely ridiculously pointless situation.
What ifs do not win trophies.

Hence going back to my issue with the squad. Not strong enough..We loose Kane and we are faacked. Hence we have to prioritize. Its not too much to ask that having spend over 100mill in the past 2 seasons we have 3 half decent strikers at our disposal. Surely not too much to ask. So Poch has to manage the squad the way he sees best and If £26mill Soldado hadnt passed up that easy chance we probably wont be having this debate now.
And lets face it over the 2 legs we had enough chances to win the game and its not like we have been outplayed.
We have an over-bloated squad with too many same type players that lacks pace, inventiveness and sometimes the know how. Until Poch is allowed to trim the squad and bring in the right players then I will always support his decision to rest some key players with a Cup final looming. COYS!!!!!
