Clear chances + chances of 4th?

I wouldn't say a CL spot is out of sight. It will be tough purely because of the number of teams chasing it, but we no longer have any distractions and we're currently pretty much injury-free? I'm confident we can take approx 30 points from those 12 games. Whether that's enough or not remains to be seen.

The team in attacking sense is just not clever enough. We had numerous situations where a bit of cuteness on the ball was required which would have provided a scoring chance but the flair to execute it wasn't there.. We look a bit predictable and lack any game changers in attacking areas.
All other teams around us them. I personally wouldn't be adverse to letting Chadli and Lamela leave. I do like Chadli to be fair but feel we need more creativity and pace in the team. Lamela just flatters to deceive.

But overall thought we played on the front foot and Chelsea just had players at the back who had been there and done it. We really didn't look like scoring tbh.

Yes we don't have enough goalscorers. Would add Chadli to that list.

I'd sell:
Soldado
Ade
Lamela
Capoue

Could put Townsend on that list or play him on the left
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Adebayor
Soldado
Capoue
Vlad
Kaboul
Paulinho

All must be gone this summer

I remember when our season was over when we lost a semi-final at Wembley a few years back and had to load of tough fixtures and we ended up 4th.

Could do so again. Only league games left. We've heard a lot about our teams improved mentality recently. Be interesting to see the response to today.

We won't get top 4.

Poch has a great philosophy and has done wonders for our tempo, fitness and youngsters. But you can't polish a túrd - when your best bet is to bring on the likes of Soldado to win you a cup final you know you're scraping the barrel. He's working with the squad Baldini bought AVB. He's proved his worth this season, that slap headed Pygmy Uncle Fester lookalike wants to start backing Poch this summer or we'll lose him to a club that will. It was a tight game today, we played well but lost to two fortuitous goals to a squad that has had billions spent on it. Disappointing but not entirely unexpected. I can't see us getting close to top 4 really, I just want us to consolidate, ditch the deadwood and back the manager in the summer and see where he can take us if we back his vision.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed
Sometimes fans expect too much. Poch can only work with what he has. And on paper we have no right to play as we did against Chelsea today. Top 4 would be great off course but I really cant see it.. Think there are better equipped squads around us who just have the edge.

Spurs have some pretty tough fixtures in the league, gonna be tough for you to finish 4th.

I thought you could do it at the start of the season but not anymore. Maybe next season. Pochettino is a good manager and is going to improve you given time.

That being said, I thought you lot were pretty poor today, expected a lot more.

Are you sure ?

Our fixtures are nice

In terms of the summer transfer window, I really hope we don't go out and buy loads of players purely to fill sqaud spaces. Looking at our squad as it is now, it's quite bloated. Would happily sell 5 or 6 of them and bring in 2 or 3 very good players.

Kaboul
Paulinho
Holtby
Lennon
Adebayor
Soldado

They can all go in the summer IMO. I'd probably keep Lamela and Townsend but I'd say it's their last chance.

When you look at Arsenal, Liverpool and City's fixtures, it's difficult to see how you can accumulate more points than us. But then football isn't always won on paper. Anyway my opinion is you won't finish top 4 this season. I think Chelsea first and City/Arsenal/Liverpool in any order. You could finish ahead of United again though.

Spurs have the easiest fixtures of all the sides, only City at home and United away are what I would call toughies, Southampton away is usually a given for Spurs. Their next half a dozen games include playing the bottom four or five.

You obviously were not watching the same game as the rest of us. I thought Spurs were excellent today, going toe to toe with one of the best teams in Europe.

Sandy

We normally struggle against the lesser sides tbf

posted on 1/3/15

Yes sandy but we only have Liverpool & Chelsea at home, with United away. The latter 2 you can probably put down as defeats for us but on paper we should win our remaining games, maybe a draw with Liverpool will be acceptable. You also have Stoke and Everton away which won't be easy.

Liverpool have Stoke, Arsenal and Chelsea away, and United at home, they should win the rest. United have a very tough fixture list, can't see them finishing 4th and think you might finish above them.

To be fair the Stoke and Everton games might be easier because they're towards the end of the season and there's the possibility they'll be in holiday mode as can happen with teams with nothing to play for. All hypothetical obviously.

posted on 1/3/15

There is a lot of hypothetical about how easy it is going to be for teams like Arsenal. They are going to be dropping plenty of points, they are still in Europe (just ) and the FA Cup, so they will be stretched.

Spurs can concentrate fully on just the prem now, and should pick up loads of points, one game a week will be like heaven compared to the gruelling season they have already had.
