I've never stated that we need a new back four.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I never said that you stated that. I wish you would read what I put up here.
You repeatedly target Stearman and go quiet when he plays well. You never target anyone else in the back four or even midfield when they make an error, which has been more frequently that Stearman this season.
I haven't exaggerated anything you have said and read everything you put on here. I have stated it how I see it, if you don't like it, I don't care.
Stearman is possibly our player of the season, its that simple.
As for last night it sounds like batth can easily share the blame for the first and as for the pen, a wee bit of a reckless challenge, outside the box or not, but it happens.
On Saturday he saved us two points.
It was a rash tackle, but it does happen sometimes. You will struggle to think of a defender that hasn't given a penalty away at some point due to clumsiness or recklessness.
Stearman cleared one off the line later in the game. He seems to have a knack for doing that at the moment. He wears his heart on his sleeve and always give 100 % which probably makes him my favourite player. Although Afobe has won me over.
You like my boy Benik(I have the rights)? He ain't half bad is he.
Coup of the season, 15 champo and 2 prem clubs inquired about him and he chose the mighty wolves
Reckless Richard has improved and matured a lot over the last couple of years, partly in my view due to him being played in his best position rather than right back where McCarthy seemed to want to shoe-horn him in to the team.
Some said he'd found his level in League 1, but hes stepped up this term, could he do it again at the top flight, Jury's out.
The fact is that the jury is out on all of them, as it is for any teams players upon promotion.
Some will sink, some will swim.
Some will just about float.
You are right, no matter how hard you flush, some just won't go away
Here you are tamwolf:-
"..........I don't think he realises that Stearman has been one of our top performers this season and by saying he is not good enough, he is effectively saying we need an entire new back four (possibly not Iorfa as he looks an excellent prospect) and midfield."
=========
In my humble opinion I don't think Stearman is good enough for the PREMIERSHIP.
From the start of the season, I've stated that we need a better CB than Stearman ( a view shared by the way by our illustrious poster DJ), if we're serious about promotion. That view hasn't changed even though he's doing well at this level.
Playing in the top flight is a whole new ball game and that's why I don't think this squad collectively is ready yet. We are doing slightly better than I personally expected, but we seem to be missing that cutting edge needed if we want to go up and then stay in the Premiership.
Stearman is not the only one in our squad who I dont think will cut it by the way. At the seasons end we will be rid of some big earners and that is when I feel we'll start to build a squad on top of what we have now that can mount a serious challenge next season.
I still don't see where I have said that you stated we need a new back four. All I have said is that your constant criticisms of one player, who has been one of our top performers, inadvertently implies that to other people but not that you stated it.
I know you opinion on Stearman. I also know you are too wooden to ever change your opinion, regardless of what happens, as you are too worried about showing everyone you think you are right. Hence why you jump on every mistake or slip Stearman does.
I also think you should stop bringing up DJ and his opinions in every post as that is just being antagonistic. If he doesn't rate Stearman he can tell me himself and I can have a discussion with him.
The reason I metioned DJ is because he too stated that we needed another CB at the start of the season and would have liked, as I did, Maguire to come to our club as Stearmans replacement.
Stearman has done well this season, but Im looking long term and he's not what we need at CB in the top flight. I'll be surprised if he gets an extention to his contract tbh.
It's unfortunate that he refuses to publically agree with me.
Everyone thought we needed a new centre back in the summer because we only had two recognised centre backs in our squad. Since then we have had Iorfa and Hause come through and are showing potential to play there in the future. I remain unconvinced by Ebanks-Landell.
Stearman is only 27 and is just reaching his peak as a centre half. He still has a good 6 years left in him and we have youth prospects for a longer term than that. He is a top Championship defender at the very least and we would struggle to do better whilst in this division. I would even argue that your much coveted Maguire has left less of an impression at the top level than Stears did at a similar age.
As one of our side top performers and without us having a number of adequate replacements for him, I would be baffled and angry if we let him go on a free without offering him a contract.
Does Stearmans contract run out this summer?
That isn't good news as he will definit my have other clubs interested, let's hope we make him feel wanted and he is happy here because as you say Tam, we will struggle to find many better at this level.
Let me reassure you wolfiie. There are few people on earth that I would want explaining to other people what my opinion is than you. Just give your own opinion and I will give mine.
As it happens I did say I would have liked Maguire to have come here. But I would never say a new signing should replace anyone, the best squad of 20 will win the league, not the best 11. And the reason we are where we are in the league is that we were unable to cover players being injured in the autumn and we lost loads of points as a result of that. The emergence since of Iorfa and Hause, the signing of Afobe, the return from loan of Price have all meant we are a lot closer to having the 20 good players we need than we were a few months ago.

Expires next summer Cinci. Unless we get promoted this year (unlikely) and Stearman is very poor in the Prem (which if played in position I don't think he will be, he will at the very least be good cover) he should be offered a new contract.
I think Stearman and Edwards have fully justified their place in the squad in the last two seasons and will stay there whatever league we are in next season. But like every other member of the squad if we can find better players then why not
Wolfie has shot himself in the foot with his anti Stearman agenda. I never had any particular reason to side with Stearman over any other players before, but when I went home from witnessing what I saw against Brentford, I was wondering whether I'd be questioned for giving the player my M of the M award. He was, to me, simply outstanding. Guts that reminded me of Dave Mackay. To my satisfaction, my view of that performance was being reflected by others who had also witnessed that game. I have up trying to argue this case with Wolfie, because his stance is illogical and leaves me bewildered. Others have been more eloquent, and help show that the views of one distant bigot on a porch on Orlando shouldn't be read as gospel.

Exactly. Players come and go, and changes are made. Kenny Hibbitt is no longer with us, but that in no way underestimates what a player he was for us.
Norwich losing to Wigan, our man Leon with the assist.
I am now convinced that Wolfie slept with Bute's sister back in the 70's.
Gomis collapsed in the Swansea game, has had heart issues in the past apparently, stretchered off but is now conscious.
Ha ha. No sisters, just brothers, so can't speculate as to whether any female siblings would have been drawn to such an questionable character.
A lot is down to appearance. Batth has a look that says I'm so cool, every woman in the room wants me and every man wishes he was me.
Stears has a look that says I've just dropped my phone down the toilet.
