Ryan Lowe...Uninspiring?

I don't think MM's a tightwad....just sceptical about throwing his money down the drain like he did with Irvine! If Meggo had been at the helm at that time, I think we'd have seen a much better team with just a couple additions here and there. Other than the loan signing of Mellor, who was brought in with a view to the future? Madine.......and? I only hope that Meggo will be able to convince him to shell out if the right player does become available, but perhaps Alf didn't really fit the bill in MM's eyes. Perhaps he wasn't too sure about taking such a gamble on a league 2 player. All eyes will be on Reading to see who was right!

If he's so sceptical, why did he allow the COG deal to go through so easily? 350 for an injured player who is nowhere near as prolific a goalscorer as ALF.

COG wasn't plying his trade in league 2.....and tbh, we don't really know what went on behind the scenes in the dealings with Rotherham. Do you really think they wanted their star player to come to us? I doubt it very much....as shown by his remark in Als choice of club!

This is just the sort of uninspired signing that I have learned to get used to for most of my life. Bring him (and the disappointment/misery) on.

Taken from Vital Rotherham:

Me, I'm pleased he's chosen to go to Reading because if he'd gone to Sheffield Wednesday I am certain that Rotherham fans would have grumbled and groaned and moaned about him - now we can remember him for his goals and what he brought to Rotherham United.

I think something like this was at the back of Stewart's mind in the dealings with Wednesday. Very easy for everybody to point the finger in MM's direction, but there are often things behind the scenes that don't come to light!! Let's wait and see who is brought in before casting judgement!

ALF sulks first time left on the bench he could have ignited the dressing room just when we need to be together and one. Me im glad he did not sign for us. May score goals but I still don't think he fitted the team we are trying to build. I also think ALF is more of a left winger than striker and that will be most likely his role at Reading

As for Ryan Lowe this is a smoke screen. Too old not got the pedigree and a member of a side just promoted.

So we'll sign him then

No chance he'll play on the wing. They've just lost their best striker 2+2=4

So even though he basically scores in every game, we don't want him? I think he'd be a great short term measure.
