It means he wanted to leave, KD expected him to go and bought a replacement. When it started getting difficult to find a new club for Aqua, KD found it difficult to fit him into the team alongside his own replacement.

It's a sign we are doing things properly again. If a player wants to go, he is moved on quietly with respect from both sides. Not slagging each other off in the press and on twitter! just because there hasn't been a huge public row, doesn't mean KD didn't want to keep him.

Exactly Taggart.

All the players leaving Liverpool this season have done so quietly with no song and dance. The only person who wouldn't shut up was Aquilani's agent.

Kenny couldn't pick him because he knew he didn't really want to be here, he would have stayed if he had to, but he preferred to go to Italy.

I made an article about that yesterday. It was along the lines of "I'm glad we don't hold players against their will to the detriment of the club". I mean, look at Spurs forcing modric to stay and play. Sometimes you just have to cash in and find a replacement

but where do you draw the line? players sign long contracts worth ridiculous amounts of money these days yet few seem willing to respect them as soon as a new offer comes along.

imo, if football is to survive longterm, the power players and agents have needs significantly reducing as the inflation in player wages simply can't be sustained and even very average players are on contracts which would have been unthinkable a decade ago.

''But the problem for us was trying to get him in the team. We couldn't get him in the team.''

It's not rubbish and it is blindingly obvious that he wanted to return to his homeland.

If he wanted to stay he wouldn't have allowed his agent to keep pimping him around seria A the way he did.

I'm just relieved we can put the whole sorry saga to bed for a while. I can guess how it will probably pan out though at Milan. He will play 24 games then be struck down with another injury leaving him and LFC in limbo again.
