That will be the team 100%. How Fellaini is the first name on the team sheet is unbelievable and one of the many reasons why I can see us losing tomorrow
It kills me inside.
Two incredibly average inconsistent wingers, one of the most pedestrian CM combo's in memory of man and Fellaini as number 10.
And we've not even mentioned the defence yet either.
We better hope Rooney is on his A game tomorrow or I will fear the worst.
Spurs will press the shitt out of us. We need to have a midfield 3 against them. If we put Fellaini in cm then the manager is handing the game to Spurs. None of us would be surprised if that happens. Scary.
Agreed Viva la Nemanja.
This could be the first time in my 20 odd years as a ST holder that I'd prefer us to have Spurs's starting 11 over ours.
Really is a sorry state of affairs. I will sing my heart out as usual and get behind the lads like I always do. But my heart sinks just looking at that line up.
It's nowhere near good enough for MUFC.
De Gea
Rafael/Smalling/Rojo/Shaw
Carrick/Blind
Januzaj/Mata/Young

But that's what you're hoping for. Surely you're not expecting that?
Valencia will play. As will Fellaini too. We all know that.
How many of those are nailed on starters for their country?

Sadly not too many of them. Just shows how far we've fallen. Valencia, Rojo & Rooney only guaranteed ones.
Not a great indictment of United and the PL is it?
But that's what you're hoping for
-------------------------------------------------
Not really.
Hmm... Cannot imagine Mata being a choice in this game. His ability to hide when being closed down will render him a massive minus.
In a logical world it is a 3 man midfield of Herrera, Carrick and Blind. In a risk taking one, Blind and Herrera with Wilson up top. My expectation is the line up that has started most games bar Di Maria.
Regardless, I cannot see us winning this game oddly enough because I cannot see us getting enough chances to score without Di Maria. Young for all his apparent improvement, creates less chances than Di Maria on par to the massively inept Januzaj (like honestly, were is Lingard? We need another choice, any choice other than Januzaj and he may not have the same ability but he does the right thing at the right time) At this point I would take a combo of Rafael and Valencia on the right, probably our best option but VG has a problem with perfectly good right backs.

I think we could see that which is a little depressing. I've never been convinced Carrick and Blind are a good partnership, too defensive for me but now Carrick is fit I can only see him and Blind starting.
Probably need 3 CMs tomorrow, 1 to stop the treat of Eriksen and 2 more to compete with Bentaleb and Mason.

---------------------------------------------------
Now this is what I would personally do seeing as Spurs like to press high and I think are vulnerable to the counter when their first line of pressing is bypassed. Pace up front could prove essential for us tomorrow and seeing as LvG has bemoaned the lack of pace up front, it'd be nice if he actually used Wilson.
Problem is, we aren't a side who transition quickly. When we win possession, we prefer to retain it, rather than spring into a quick attack.

The problem is that requires us to be positive and take a risk and increase the tempo of our play, something we have failed to do all season.
Exactly mu82, that's what I meant.

Yeah I know, just so frustrating that we will unlikely see it.

Smalling and Jones vs Eriksen and Kane then....
And I agree with one of the posters on Lingard, he's an odd one, good enough to start the first game of the season, gets injured, comes back from injury, and then is immediately shipped out on loan.
Wow that line up in the op looks awful Fellaini is a decent option of the bench but he shouldn't be starting games for us.
