If he doesn't start and we win tonight he starts next week on the bench, he can still offer lots off the bench and team comes first.
I think he has a part to play for the rest of the season. He's still a very good footballer! He's our top scorer and you could say he was about the only one performing when the team was playing poorly.
When we switched formation he was influences games in a big way and getting results. I don't know why people forget this but I bet Gerrard proves a few on here wrong. Again.
I say on here because no one in the game agrees.
Not playing him isn't a snub it's recognition that we're currently better without him in the starting 11.
Absolutely love stevie, if he came round my house he could sit in my seat, wear me slippers and have the remote control for the telly even - if I could get it off the missus - but sentimentality doesn't win matches.
And I am talking about the starting 11, agree that he has a lot to offer from the bench still.
I think he could start ahead of Lallana begin Studge. He was getting in the box well before the injury.
Surely he has to earn his place back in the team. The fact that he is leaving this summer means that this decision should be straightforward for the manager, rather than creating a media driven hullabaloo.
He still has a lot to offer, but for me we are currently a better team without him in the starting eleven.
He's only back from injury and several players have performed well in his absence so let him play his way back into the side.
He does need to fight his way back into the team and if he doesn't get back into the starting 11 he'll be a good luxury to have on the bench
As a United fan I think you have played better without him. Sentimentality with Giggs and Scholes cost us in games I think.
What a boost for you though if he is on the bench and you neec a big half hour. If nothing else it would give the crowd a lift if you needed it.
People are too obsessed with this issue.
He is a good player who is our top scorer and still a good squad member.
He also regularly scores against Utd.
If we play well tonight without him (or with him) then that influences next weekends selection.
Just pick players on form and fitness, which is what Rodgers does.
We need him tonight IMO.
we need a leader and someone to stretch Swansea!
Stating the blindingly obvious, the decision to play our skipper from the off on Sunday will be with Brendan. He made some fantastic intercepts against the Swans tonight, he is still showing his worth as a player, our skipper. Bear in mind the 4-1 game of yesteryear, he plays.
