Aguero to leave City for Arsenal
As I said unrealistic but you probably would have laughed at Ozil & Alexis to Arsenal
Well he definitely won't be going to Liverpool, will he.
In truth I don't believe in Aguero to Arsenal but it happened in my dream this week so felt it was worth justifying
Proper strange, hope it's a sign
Good article . Aguero could happen. Okay, highly unlikely, but if things go títs-up at City this season who knows? A mass exodus, new manager. And we know Wenger was prepared to pay at least £40m for Suarez, so he must still think we need a world class striker as well..
We can dream eh?
Cheers
I agree but there are various options if it doesn't happen, just hope we can exploit them. Is Muller playing weekly at Bayern? He's good upfront imo worth one of Arsene's famous conversions....
No chance we will get an upgrade on Giroud.
wenger is in Love with Giroud.
Unless Giroud sufferes a very very long term injury there is no one coming in
OP
We need DEFENSIVE players not attackers!! For god's sake why can't you Giroud haters get this through ya thick heads?!
If we sign a striker who can score 10 more goals a season than Giroud. Won't make a blind bit of difference because we'll STILL leak more than that ten at the back.
If we go spanking 40-50 million on a striker then you can forget any quality reinforcing midfield or the defence. Upfront is not the area of the team to throw 50 million at.
Now, in nice big letters to help you understand...
YOU DON'T FIX DEFENSIVE FRAILTIES BY BUYING STRIKERS!
YOU FIX DEFENSIVE FRAILTIES BY BUYING DEFENSIVE PLAYERS!
Oh and 7 goals in 6 games might just have Newcastle Utd disagreeing with you about Giroud
You will be involved in a striker rotation on Europe's second tier alongside the likes of Juventus/PSG/Athletico. I would bet on Ibrahimovic usually but judging by your unwillingness to give deals to older players I think someone like Dzeko is more likely.
Another, more cost effective, way of improving defensive frailties is by getting better coaches.
Just sayin'.
I personally would love to see Arsene go big balls out 50/60 mil to sign Aguero. Love OG but he's no Sergio. However ever in my fantasy where Wenger does it, it's the transfer window after he's spent 60 million buying Schneiderlin and Kompany first.
This is a difficult issue because Giroud is very good. BUT, we could do better and we are not the same team as we have been when we had the likes of Henry/Van Persie up front, largely down to the fact that Giroud's lack of pace affects our overall play in a way I do not like.
However, we have to question whether it is pragmatic to upgrade from a very good striker to a world class one when we do not have an unlimited well of cash and there are perhaps more important upgrades to be made in other parts of the pitch.
Also, Akpom....
I'm undecided on this one to be honest.
Why don't you believe Giroud can improve to be a world class player?
Lex
We could change coaching but would still need to sign players. Coq can't play every game and Merte is done in in. Sorry but whichever way you cut it, our transfer priority is not a top top striker. Not yet anyway. Some top top defenders are what we need most at this moment in time.
We can get quality defenders in for under £20m top bracket CF's will cost a lot more and is worth it. Another DM wouldn't cost a lot more than £20m either.
We could afford to recruit effectively defensively and have enough for a top, top forward. Don't forget we have quite a few expected departures too which if won't bring in much fees will certainly free up space on the wage bill.
Think we need 3 players right through the spine (CB, DM, CF) all very possible within our budget.
Varane - £25m
Kondogbia - £20m
Cavani - £40m
£85m spent that would certainly complete our squad is very realistic.
Javi Martinez - £25m would be a solution for both midfield and in defence alone would be canny business too.
We brought in world class Alexis and still recruited about 4-5 other players this summer. Not always the be all and end all buying a top name
Never mind the OP pundit. Giroud could bang away 30 by the end of this season and he would still want him gone. It actually has nothing at all to do with his ability, it's because his style of play doesn't suit the mighty Ozil.
Apparently Giroud is so slow and immobile that he is preventing us from seeing the mighty Ozil...well um...be mighty I guess
Anyway the OP just LUUURVES Ozil So far as he's concerned OG has got to go to make way for a faster, more mobile CF who will make the mighty Ozil look better.
Varane is obviously Chelsea bound

Your last sentence is the key one. Apply it to the striker argument you're presenting.
Defenders this window coming...
Then completion of gelling the attacking players we currently have because in case you hadn't noticed at times this season, they're all over the bloody place half the time.
Settle that team, the attack we already have, completely gelled and in tune. In front of a strong settled defence.
THEN next window, if we need him, get ya Cavani or whoever.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, our attack in front of a strong defence with a good holding DM and we won't need Cavani. So why spend 40 mil plus super-silly wages unless we really really have to? We do have limited funds and we won't stay rich if we go blowing 40 millions on players we don't actually need.

Why don't you believe Giroud can improve to be a world class player?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because he's 28. I think if he was a world class player we would know by now. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy, but he's not world class and never will be. But at his very best he is one of the best in the league.
But to be honest the most deadly strikers who scare the sheet out of opponents are alway fast ones. Am I too obsessed with pace?
With Mert hopefully soon to lose his first team place we can finally begin playing a different style of football, or rather have a viable option to.
We can finally push up high as a team and press the opposition, something Sanchez thrives upon for instance. This may also see Giroud become even more effective as he'll get a lot more touches closer to the oppos penalty box.
*however I do agree an upgrade on Giroud is a very good idea.
