Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool
A hard fought game in which each team strove to cancel out the opposition's potent attacking options led to a game of few chances but many crunching tackles in which Yaya Toure shone as a game changer. Working against a typically organised Liverpool side, Toure produced some real magic in the centre of the park, first by playing a wonderfully weighted ball in to Aguero who finished with aplomb and then winning a penalty for the home side when he was brought down after a marauding run. Ronaldo's winner from the spot came late on after a superb Oscar free kick had brought Liverpool back in to the game but it simply was not to be for the Merseyside outfit who can rue the injuries that LSTD will probably claim cost them the game.

In a game of solid defensive efforts and few stand out performances, it was the giant Ivorian's efforts that turned an otherwise equal game in Arsenal's favour.
