Well done RGK, caught a few fishies with this one. Even managed to get a Chelsea fan to brag about Liverpool's history 😂😂😂

"I would swap Sterling for any of our players - I would honestly put him alongside Hazard as one of the most talented players in the league (not that I think he's as good as Hazard currently)."

This is just embarrassing. What makes it even more disappointing is that it's from a normally balanced poster.

Sterling is a top talent. But this is just pure hype and nonsense.

Ox > Sterling potential wise.

Raheem would be good backup tho and of course could play CF as emergency

Not against it but we can do better

Ox

He is 16 months older, made his league debut 4 years ago and still can't even hold down a regular position.

Him not holding down a regular place could have something to do with him playing for a superior side to Liverpool. He'd be the first name in your teamsheet if he was unfortunate enough to play for Liverpool.

Yes yes.

So superior that we finished above you last season and are a massive 6pts behind you this season.

We have heard it all before.

All your players are amazing and everyone else's are rubbish.

I am comparing Arsenal's players to Liverpool's. Player for player it is clear we're superior. Continue hiding behind you're one off season where everything clicked and you had the best striker in the world.

Football is a game of opinions, so naturally, there's nothing that I can do to change your opinion on Sterling, and I respect that. But even still, he is quite widely considered one of the most talented footballers around currently so I don't think it's fair to suggest my claim is 'embarrassing', even if you don't agree with it.

He was ranked as the best performing teenager across the major leagues in Europe by Whoscored.com last season, the second best by Squawka, and was later voted by a select of journalists from across the continent as the best Under-21 player in Europe as he won the 'European Golden Boy' award.
Ancelotti has described Sterling as 'one of the best in Europe', whilst Wenger described him as 'one of the great players in England'.
He's now being strongly linked with the likes of Bayern Munich, Madrid, and PSG, with Xavi also earmarking him as a potential future Barcelona player.

Thus far this season, he's statistically the highest ranked player of his age (or younger) in the country according to Whoscored and Squawka, and the second best player of a comparable age in Europe as a whole by Squawka's performance score rankings.

Of course, as I say, football is ultimately subjective, so none of this is conclusive, but I feel the fact that he is receiving so much high-praise from across the footballing continent should make my opinion somewhat less unfathomable - even if you're not in agreement.

For the record, I don't think he's better than all of our players currently, but I think considering his age - and what he has achieved at such a young age and the fact there's still a lot of scope for improvement - I would be willing to swap any of our players for him.

He has absolutely exceptional pace, and he has now developed deceptive strength go with it - just ask Vincent Kompany; he has fantastic dribbling - as evidenced by the fact he has one of the highest number of completed dribbles; and a great work-rate as well.

Another thing that stands out is his ability to go either direction with his dribbling - Sanchez, for all his skill, has an annoying proclivity to cut back inside too frequently, whereas Sterling seems equally comfortable going down the outside or drifting in-field. We currently don't have anyone who seems comfortable consistently driving past his opponent down the left-flank, so this attribute is definitely a quality I would love to see added to the squad.
On-top of that, he has already shown great versatility and adaptability, having played on either wing; in the hole; as a striker; and both wing-back positions already in his career.
His end product still needs improvement, but with 9 goals and 5 assists in 2 thirds of a season last year, and 6 and 7 respectively so far this season, he's still doing pretty well for his age.

If he can avoid injuries, I personally think he will become a genuinely world-class player.

Saying you would swap him for all our players is just embarrassing. So you would swap him for Sanchez or the likes of Ozil?

posted on 30/3/15

You got anything to back up why Ox is better than Sterling?

No?

Thought not.

Fyi I think Sterling is the better player. Was just refuting your earlier point directed towards Inventor (who was clearly on the wum).

"Saying you would swap him for all our players is just embarrassing. So you would swap him for Sanchez or the likes of Ozil?"

Just to clarify, I meant 'any' as opposed to 'all'. And yes, I would.
I currently rate Alexis Sanchez more highly, but he's 6 years older than Sterling. At Sterling's age, Sanchez was only just establishing himself at Udinese - scoring 3 goals in his first season.
I think Sanchez is exceptional, but I think Sterling has a higher ceiling, and from a long-term perspective, would be able to provide us with more years of service.

Similarly, I rate Ozil very highly, and I've been one of his biggest supporters in light of the criticism he has received. But the truth is that Wenger's tendency to try and fit a number of established playmakers into one side has damaged the balance of the team, IMO.
Again, there's the difference in age, but also that someone as versatile and adaptable as Sterling could provide the team with a better balance.

Sterling should leave Liverpool if he wants success, he won`t get trophies and mega wages staying at Klanfield.

He would be foolish to sign another deal at Pool when bigger and better clubs are interested in taking him.

Unfortunately that rules out the Goonz for his signature.

All you refuted it with was fantasy that all your players are better than Liverpools.

If Ox was that good he would hold down a regular place in your side.

You have a better squad than us but you are not that good.

Sterling is one of our best players, Ox isn't one of your best 11 players, and you are marginally better than us.

Nobody could argue with any evidence that Ox is better than Sterling, and the fact that he can't hold down a place in your side is not because you are amazing, it's because he isn't that good.

He can't even hold down a place in a mediocre England team. Meanwhile Sterling is one of the first names on the team sheet.

I would swap Sanchez for Sterling in a heartbeat. Sterling is already a better player even now dont understand why people are afraid to admit it.

When Arsenal want something we get it. Sterling wants out and that is join the biggest club in the world Arsenal.

Big clubs win the champions league. Ar'se ain't the biggest club in London, never mind the world

You are overrating Sterling to an exceptional degree. Swapping him for already world class players just because he has good potential is silly.

posted on 30/3/15

I'm not just basing it solely on potential though - he is already a fantastic player and his versatility could bring great balance to the side - he just has the potential to become even better.
