Yeah, I did a little tribute to him a few years back... Come to think of it, it might have been back on the BBC 606...

Anyway, what a great player he was. Definitely one of my all time favourite Arsenal players. Lovely guy too.

Sadly missed and never forgotten.

RIP David.

I always did one, a couple of and a dove were about all people said.
Same for Nico Galli on Feb 10th.

Now I mourn Rocky and Galli in private.

Guess most are too young to remember.

Rocky deservedly features as one of the Arsenal Legends on the outside of the Emirates Stadium.

You must be joking, most of the fans on here are either too young to know what a top player and man he was, or got into football after his passing.

I still have my no.7 Rocastle shirt and always play with that number for him (and to a lesser extent Bob Pires)

Rip Rocky

Fantastic performance during Arsenal 5 Norwich 0 (1989) lives long in the memory.

Im 22 so I'll admit i never watched him play for us. Got into football when i was around 9 or 10 so around 2002.

Where would you rank him amongst our other great wingers. Better than Pires, Ljungberg, overmars etc?

Somewhere between Ljungberg and Pires, Ramboue.

He was quick, but not really a speed merchant as such. Had great skill - though not as silky as Pires - strength, desire and was just a lovely player to watch.

Cheeky grin too.

That midfield he was part of alongside Davis, Merson and Thomas was just so good. That was a special side for me. They were just that little bit older than me, but not so much that I couldn't relate to them as regular blokes - almost mates really. As you get older, you sort of come out the other side of that, (or at least that's what I've found) and the players become just Arsenal players again. I still love these guys for playing for the club, but don't relate to them in the same way.

Back then was when I used to go see Arsenal the most I guess. So many great games, mixed in with a few real heartbreakers. I suppose that's why he's such an important player for me. I wasn't joking when I said he's in my all time top Arsenal players.

So sad when we sold him, but in fairness he'd had an injury, (a knee injury I think?) and GG thought it was time to move him on. Such a shock when he died. Way, way too young.

Have to agree with Lexington Sanchez.
As well as all his attacking skills he could tackle and defend like no other right winger I can remember.
There's also a match where he played for Man City where created a goal with several drag backs, which I don't think even exists on the internet.
He was part of the best times for me as an Arsenal fan!
