17 days to the main event. 7 days until the qualifiers. 5 days until the qualifying draw. The World Championship is back!
can't wait.... What's your first memory of the Worlds.... I'm an old man (40) I remember Joe Johnson winning in 86, hooked ever since...
Can't remember a specific year or match, just coming home from school and watching the afternoon sessions and my grandparents' house.

Higgins and Ding both into last 16 in China
Ding has has a dreadful season, maybe he's saving himself for the big one.
Think everyone always says that yet he never seems to perform in Sheffield
Murphy and Selby through to quarters in China, Ding v Williams and Higgins v Trump at 12:45 will be interesting match ups.
Ding lost in the first round last year, reached only 1 semi there.

Shame.
Higgins won the Welsh Open, beat Trump yesterday, has admitted he would like to join Ronnie with 5 world titles... A contender? Perhaps....
Higgins is always a contender at the Crucible, no doubt he's another to try and avoid in the draw.
We know if the real Ronnie shows up then he is unbeatable as he was in 2004, 2008, 2012. I was watching Ronnie against Hendry in the 2008 semi the other day, Ronnie was brilliant..... 17-6 win from 4-4 after the first session..
I don't think he'll win it this year. QF exit is my prediction but will need to see the draw first.
Update from China: Selby beats Milkins 5-4 but more importantly Murphy has been beaten by the same score against Norway's Kurt Maflin.
Should be getting the qualifying draw today
Ken Doherty against Reanne Evans in the first round of qualifying!
Hi RKW - just read about that today. There'll be a lot of pressure on Doherty in that match, he wouldn't say it in public, but he won't want to lose to a woman!!
Good to hear from you kinsang- we've got a lot to catch up on.
Women in the Worlds, Selby wins in China, another snooker betting scandal, Man Utd beat Liverpool
Agreed re Doherty, I'm not sexist in any shape or from but I don't think anyone on the circuit will want to be the first to lose to Reanne Evans. Personally I wish her the best of luck and hopes she does progress to at least the second round of qualifying.
Yes, after she loves she can make cakes for the boys.... After the washing up mind.....
Thursday for Doherty v Evans, live on World Snooker
RKW - I'm not just playing the sexist card, but I reckon even a past his best Doherty will be disappointed if he doesn't win comfortably. I think it's just a matter of fact that there's a long way for the women's game to go.
Can't believe how the footie has turned out. I thought it would be a gradual progress with LVG, but we've gone from grinding out results to suddenly producing good performances and results. The team spirit is really strong at Utd and you can tell the players are really all pulling in the same direction, and the performances are finally improving.
Funny what a difference a year makes. Still think that Liverpool's defensive frailties have to be addressed, and I actually feel for Sterling - must feel like he's got the whole world against him right now. To think that 4th place looked like it could be a close battle, and with the City collapse, it could still be
It's a bloody shame that either Manchester club, Arsenal or Liverpool have been as consistent as truly awful Chelsea this year.... Arsenal..... Play like you are now for a full season...
Ridiculous with the football, all of a sudden in a few weeks I've gone from wanting City to beat you on Sunday to the other way round! Still we won't finish fourth, we must win all of our games I feel and we'll get beat at Chelsea as I think that game on 2 May will be for them to clinch the title.
Can also see us slipping up at one or more of Hull, WBA and Stoke.
Early scores from the qualifiers and Martin Gould trails 2-0 to amateur Adam Duffy. All qualifying matches are best of 19, however.
